There is a difference between getting smashed, and drinking alcohol.

OT: Yes, everytime that I can afford it and have the time. I enjoy beer, and some times wine, or a good martini. Haven't been drunk in ages.

its still harmful in many other ways. the thing is addictive, and the number of people who lost very important people in their lives because of alcohol are huge, there is no reason on earth why i should even bother with the thing.

I drink because I like the flavour of some of the beverages and rarely ever actually get drunk...

Drinking =/= drunk.

Drunk =/= totally fucking wasted, which is what you've just described.

to each their own. but drinking, even if you dont get drunk, is still harmfull. i understand that drinking a bit isnt like getting drunk though but as i said, to each their own. i have my own logical reasons not to drink.

Almost everything is harmful. Don't do enough exercise, even the healthiest of foods can cause issues. Alocholic beverages, in moderation, are not harmful in anyway that is either long lasting or even noticable.

I just don't understand why people see drinking as this black & white thing - either you drink to the state where you pass out, or you don't have any. Having a glass of wine once a week is about as harmful as having steak. More to the point, when used correctly, alcohol can help enhance flavours of certain food and vice-versa.

If you think wine and whiskey taste the same then that's like saying oranges and apples taste the same.... :s

The only thing that can be drunk from that glass is Johnny Walker Black. Fact.

But what if I said that I didn't like fruit? It doesn't matter if the fruit changes, I would still dislike fruit as a whole.

Anyway, if I do drink, I'll drink Vodka. I don't think it tastes great, but it's different and I enjoy the kick you get from it, a bit like you do with spicy food.

If you said you didn't like fruit then go to a doctor because a) you'll have most likely nutritional deficits, and b) that's simply not natural, as in literally not natural.

No you can't dislike "fruit" as a whole because what links them is not their taste and that is what you are judging them by. That'd be like saying "I dislike the colour red, therefore all red cars will be bad to drive" Eh?

No chance i'd ever touch vodka - smells like nail polish remover xD More of a wine man myself. Ever tried wine that's been aged in oak casks? Really nice kick to it without being as "offensive" as spirits.

My mini-freezer (yes, I chill my alcohol) is currently stocked with the following:

18 year Macallan single malt scotch
12 year Glenmorangie single malt scotch
12 year Glenlevit
Bombay Sapphire London dry gin
Absente
1800 Silver tequila

Depends on what you drink.  Wine on occasion is actually healthy for you and it's only addictive over extensive long term heavy consuption.

Don't get me wrong.  I'm not suggesting you or anybody should drink that doesn't want to or that anyone's personal reasons are invalid.  I'm simply providing you with a more accurate picture of those circumstances.

The rEVOLution is not being televised

I can't remember the last time I drank alcohol.

No, I don't drink

No, not at all.

So you've tasted everything from fine wines, through exotic cocktails, to Highland single malts?

Learn to like whiskey, otherwise you can never own this:

Don't need it for ginger ale and iced tea.

Have some time to kill? Read my shitty games blog. http://www.pixlbit.com/blogs/586/gigantor21

:D

Can't say much against alcohol cuz it gave me some of my best moments back when I used to heavily party.
One of them non-completely NSFW was when some random girl named Francesca stole 4 random bottles of alcohol behind the counter and we had a party within a party in the club where we had girls lined up trying to take a free shot. Well, not free exactly. All they got to do is flash the crowd!

For me, some random girl named Sarah showed me her pierced twins.

We all got thrown out that night, so we had an after party at some random house. It then got shut down by the cops.

One of my greatest nights.

My homeboy's philosophy? Befriend everybody, because in their click/network they will at the very least have one cute girl. Overtime you just flush out the fugly ones.

LOL! But I'm not like that. I'm cool with everybody. What I've learned is not befriend everybody closely. Have fun and gather as many acquaintances as much as you can!

Thanks, alcohol!

Would you care to expand on those "many other ways"?

I think you are mixing things. Again, one thing is to enjoy a good drink, and the other one is to be an alcoholic. Chocolate is addictive and it's not the healthiest thing, yet I don't really think you are going around telling people that chocolate is harmful. Same goes for fast food and sodas. And if we only focus on 'harmful' stuff, red meat is not the best thing for you body, nor are cakes, or anything with processed sugar. Heck, I could start googling suff, and fill this post with harmful stuff.

There are even some studies that sugest that a daily glass of wine is quite good for your body. I really don't see the problem with enjoying a beer with your lunch, or some after work. I can't do it daily, but it would be lovely.

Missing out.

Pretty much never drink anymore since I had kids. It's also been over 3 years since I had a solid nights sleep.
