No man. The first PlayStation will be always PSX.
No man. The first PlayStation will be always PSX.

The PSX was what sony was calling the PSOne... In case you forgot, it wasn't called PSOne until the new slim model came out. Before that, it had always been PSX. Even though, with the original console, sony eventually dropped the X, the name stuck, for whatever reason. Read this a while ago... No source..
But, since you want to be critical about it, there are two consoles called PSX... Obviously, the PS1 was being called PSX first, and no one had the DVR console. Just because there was a new obscure console with the name, doesn't mean the previous console wasn't called the same thing.
But, what's the big deal? Some people refer to the "Playstation 3" as simply "Playstation." Gonna get a fit for them neglecting the number?..

Because it IS the PSX to everyone who had one before that little white model came out. It is what everyone referered to it as. That DVR thing is named after the common abbreviation of the original PSX. What can I say, I guess it's hard being a newb. psx.ign.com - this site has been Round since the 90's. |
I had a PS1 and it never, ever was the PSX. It was the PS. Adding the X is just unecessary and pointless.
Calling the PS the PSX is like everyone calling the 360 the Xenon. It just reeks of pretention.
i just call it PS1, it was the first playstation after all
Xbox Series, PS5 and Switch (+ Many Retro Consoles)

Prediction: Switch 2 will outsell the PS5 by 2030

It was called the PSX everywhere, I don't see how you could have possibly missed that.
psx.ign.com - was the largest gaming site on the Internet during the PSX era, and EVERY gaming website called it the PSX. There is no way you could have missed that.
I describe myself as a little dose of toxic masculinity.

Easy. I, y'know, called the product by it's name and so did my friends.
The internet back in the mid-ninties....yeah I think a lot of people can be forgiven for not bothering with it back then. As I said, referring to the PS as the PSX is as pointless as calling the 360 the Xenon.

Before PS2 came out, no-one called it the PS1. Incidentally, the PS2 was the first 'numbered' console.
Your argument falls flat.

I got the Official UK PS magazine here in South Africa and as such I've been aware of the usage of 'PSX' since 1997. Just because you don't know something doesn't mean everyone else doesn't.
Kinda makes it funny that you're getting your panties in a twist.
