I played the demo and the game has more things going against it than for it.

The Panzer Dragoon course isn't particularly well designed, but it's not bad either. Lap 1 is definitely the most fun, because the kart controls work the best; lap 2 (boat) is really meh and lap 3 (plane) isn't notably better. You are basically stuck with 2/3 of the game being kinda lame, because you have no control over the transformations. Speaking of control, the button configuration is awful. Accelerating with X and activating stunts with the right stick just doesn't go well together. (No, I am not going to choose a control scheme where I have to use a shoulder button to accelerate.)

Framerate issues hurt the overall experience, but the worst thing of all is that you really can't do much to outplay the CPU. For the most part you are stuck driving/flying on long straights, so there isn't much of an opportunity to make any gains.

Did you play the last game in the series?  How does this compare to that?

I personally didn't care for the sliding in that game.

i thought the sliding was VERY meh, and the changing courses annoying, and dont let me start talkin bout items....

Well I made a few threads about it =p...

It is a great game but is to hard;.. It is nice when you manage to get three starts in a event but when you find out their is an even harder star that unlocks later it is just to much to handle =p..

The PC version has more characters though...(like team fortress characters)..

Personally it is an better game than MK.

MK has a perfect, polished, balanced gameplay isnt even funny Sonic All star racing on the other hand....ugh ugly comparisons are ugly. I think 99% of people wont agree with you lol

I only played the demo of the DS version of Sonic & Sega All-Stars Racing. The sliding was nothing special and the course design (of the demo course) not really suited to make good use of it. Something's just not quite right in both games.

Why don't you download the demo for the Wii U and see for yourself? That's the best way to learn if you like the entire premise of the game. That is, one lap each for kart, boat and plane in every race.

I suppose that you're right.  I should download the demo.

The thing is that I found the last one so mediocre that I was wondering if I should even waste my time.  It had a lot going for it with the characters, game themed courses, and all of that...  But the controls, weapons, and the majority of the course designs were off.  Oh well, I was hoping that there might have been an improvement, but it doesn't sound like it.

That being said, I probably will check out the demo.

Meh noet really =p.  Kart racers are almost never perfect balanced...  And 69% of the people already said it is atleast enjoyable as MK.  Don't hate it just try it :).

Back on Snes and N64 sure... However the Blue Shell destroys any balance they game has on the Wii version. Even n64 version had the blue shell which started all this evil, but at least it was more forgiving.

I haven't played the new Sonic Transformed, but I'd take the old one over Mario Kart Wii any day.

the game is awesome, i put over 25hrs into the game and love it. the online is fun and alot of good to great players as well.
i loved it so much i also bought it for the vita as well.
