In 2011, South Sudan officially became a country. Lets say in 2013, you declared a new country. You have to name it and give it a constitution. It can be any where on Earth.

Would the constitution be codified or uncodified?

Republic or Monarchy?

Democracy or Dictatorship? Anarchy? Direct Democracy?

Communism? Capitalism? or somewhere in between?

Human rights? or none?

Structure of government?

But anyway, i would name my country the Republic of Mafsland, it would border Germany and Denmark. A capitalist country with a mixed economy.

It shall be a federal republic, with an elected parliament led by a prime minister and an elected senate led by a president. The parliament makes the laws but the senate votes on them. Any laws in the constitution can't be repealed, only amended to adapt with time. A minimum 60% of both parliament and senate have to agree for parliament to put through the changes, such changes may be subject to a referendum. Elections are proportional to best represent the public.

There are 6 states in Mafsland, they are devolved powers to spend on education, police and punishment, emergency services, maintenace of their state and raise taxes. Each state has a independent Judiciary.  The federal government covers all other policies.

There will be a bill of rights protecting basic human rights with 10 rights to start off with.

Freedom of speech, to protest, to vote, press, information, religion and association are guarentued, Education is a human right, Privacy is guarentued, Tolerance and acceptance of minorities, No government body can use force to get what it wants from the people, Elections are guarenteed every 4 years for both parliament and senate, unusual and cruel methods of punishment and torture are not allowed, a right to a fair trial, a minimum wage is guarentued but is reviewed every 2 years to ensure a minimum quality of life for the poor and each state in the Republic of Mafsland is devolved powers to ensure policy works best for it's people. This rights are entrenched into society and can't be repelled. Newer laws will not be entrenched.

EDIT: Progressive tax system from 0% to 50%. Poorest 10% pay no income tax, richest 10% pay 50% income tax etc.

Low taxes (5%) on Small or Medium companies based in Mafsland, 15% corporation tax for TNC's. Tax subsidies for companies who hire in a recession and follow environmental regulations and other regulations. VAT will be set at 12%.

Needs of the people such as education, banking (The Bank of Mafsland), healthcare, emergency services, energy, police will be fully government owned but maintained on the state level, not the federal level. Everything else will be fully private and allowed to compete with each other as much as they like.

Foriegn policy~ avoid war unless there is a direct threat to the country, seek good diplomatic relations instead. Try not to get involved in other countries problems. Limit aid to 2% of GDP per year, money needs to go into our own country first.

- Government responsibility limited to firefighting, police, national defence, and the courts.

- Health care 100% private

- Schools are privately run, but government funded under a school voucher system. More emphasis on real world skills, less on complicated maths/sciences that you'll never use unless you choose to become an engineer/scientist.

- University/College 100% private

- Military policy? We will NEVER invade another country or intervene in another nation's affairs. Our military is 100% for DEFENCE.

- Roads are government owned, but all road work contracted out to private companies. i.e. No lazy ass city workers.

- No welfare, no social security, no employment insurance, no social assistance

- No stupid regulations on businesses or forcing them to change the way they are run. If the public doesn't like the way a business operates then stop fucking shopping there, we aren't going to force them to change the way they run so you like it better. I'm talking about things like wheelchair ramps here, if a business doesn't way to pay to put in a ramp then don't make them...but they will lose the business of all handicapped people as their punishment.

- Gold/silver backed currency, we will not have a shitty fiat currency.

- No corporate taxes, no tarriffs, extremely minimal income tax, an extremely low sales tax (like 1 or 2%)

- Balanced budget amendment built into our constitution, we will NEVER run a deficit on purpose

- Marijuana is legal for recreational use and can be sold at convenience stores. Will be treated no differently than tobacco.

- All firearms are legal. Anyone can buy any gun, but most possess a government issued firearms licence. The licence itself is free, but you will have to pass strong background checks and a suitable safety/training course which will obviously cost a bit of money since someone must run it.

- Carry and conceal is legal for anyone, nothing more than the aforementioned firearms licence is necessary. The only regulation I will put on firearms is a 30rd magazine is the largest you can have for FULLY automatic weapons. No bigger magazines or drums for assault rifles...but they are okay for semi-automatic rifles.

- No minimum wage. The market will determine the wage level based on supply and demand.

- No foreign aid. How is it constitutional to forcibly take money from people and then give it to another country? If a private individual wants to donate then good for him, but the government won't give away money.

- Highway speed limits would be a provincial issue I guess...but it would be strongly recommended that they be something like 120km/h on single lane highways and on multi-lane highways it can be 140km/h or whatever. None of this bullshit 100km/h we have in Ontario now.

- A better legal system. No bullshit loopholes that let murderers go free. Say evidence is illegally obtained without a warrant that proves beyond a doubt that someone is the murderer...he will still be charged, but since the evidence was obtained illegally the police officer(s) who found the evidence will lose their jobs and face charges for going around the law. I think that's as fair as possible, killers should not get off free for something like this.

Okay, maybe one skinny bitch

Pretty much the constitution of the U.S and the variants found among the states. It would be a classical liberal society (under the umbrellas of both Libertarian and Liberalism), it would be a Republic, it would have Laissez-Faire capitalism, there would be the negative rights to Life, Liberty, and Property. There would be positive rights provided by the government in matters related to the government, such as the right to a lawyer. There would be a dispersion of government, rather than a centralized government. There would be a prohibition of a central national bank that is capable of producing money without a tie to a gold standard or some other physical commodity.

What? You want to know my secret plan now?

Soon... sooooooon...

Well my country is a string of islands named Joemazing.

The constitution in its entirety is "Don't be a dick."

I can't vote in the poll because you didn't list Constitutional Republic, which is what the US is.

I would leave Texas as Texas.

Same constitution as America.

Become a mostly Isolationist country.

Keep a President, but the whole voting and special interest group problem would need to be dealt with.

We would still be Texas, so all guns would forever be legal.

I'd do the same, but I wouldn't use the term 'isolationist'.  That can be construed as not allowing international trade or travel.  I'd allow completely free trade and travel (NOT to be mistaken as open immigration, more like temporary guests for specific purposes) but I wouldn't do any nation-building or getting involved in the internal affairs of other nations and picking fights where we need not be picking them.

This.

The thing with that is the minor restrictions you are imposing would need to be enforced, therefore you need some level of government income to fund this enforcement. Doubt the minimal taxes you would impose would cover this (espcially as the legal system isn't private), so you would be forced into a deficit thereby breakign your own laws.

Other things on there that I don't think would work in practice even if they some brilliant on paper (personally don't think even the latter applies to some).
