LOUD NOISES
I sometimes get ringing, but not chronic. Just once in a while. Im actually shocked of how common it seems to be, judging from this thread :-O

doctor?
I know a guy who has it. Apparently it's extremely annoying. Sounds like a terrible affliction.

My ears are ringing pretty bad right now, but that could be because I just went to an In Flames concert last night :P
i had it once, went to the hospital and they wanted to keep me for the weekend to hook me on to some drips, i refused, so they gave me pills instead, it went away after a few days.
i also wrote a sci fi novel called "Tinnitus"
“It appeared that there had even been demonstrations to thank Big Brother for raising the chocolate ration to twenty grams a week. And only yesterday, he reflected, it had been announced that the ration was to be reduced to twenty grams a week. Was it possible that they could swallow that, after only twenty-four hours? Yes, they swallowed it.”
- George Orwell, ‘1984’
To all the people saying they've had it since birth: a very, very low volume sound is normal. Appearantly you can hear the blood flow in your ears. It's only when it becomes louder and when you get more than 1 tone that you really have tinnitus.
