Train wreck said: So I guess we are at the part where Nintendo fans, Wii U owners especially, need to discuss the Vita in order to make themselves feel better. It's understandable but don't worry guys, Nintendo's concoction and remakes of old standby's will rescue the system from its irrelevancy. |
I'm not sure where you're coming from, and your post is flamebait.

Its not flamebait. IGN is saying that the Wii U will struggle to remain revelant, Im saying that Nintendo's old standbys will prevent that from happening. It worked for the gamecube didn't it?

This is better, no need to get into "we're are the point where Nintendo fans dadada". Ok? :)
Well, sarcasm aside I don't think that's what the article was saying though. The article mentioned that Nintendo missed the boat on backwards compatibility and VC offerings, and that that missed opportunity was not a good thing in the U's current situation because the U is not supported by 3rd parties. He does believe that the old standbys will rescue the system but it will be a bit too late. However, he also mentioned that Nintendo has been using its cash reserves to grow its studios so the whole 1st party support system has radically changed since the cube days. To be able to support two 3D platforms simultaneously, and adequately is a very difficult task. Right now the 3DS just got a new Fire Emblem game. If you saw that game, it looks very very good and that's a 3DS game.. It's not even on the U. So Nintendo has the task of garnishing its U and its 3DS which is a big job. In the meantime they also have the e-shop and Nintendo will support the U's shop. Ultimately by the time the stanbys come out Nintendo would be able to support the U all by themselves much better than it even dreamed of in the cube days. As of Iwata they have engineered their development lifeline to pump out game after game to support their systems it is quite amazing actually. Having said that, whatever advantage Nintendo may had been hoping from 3rd party support is seeing some difficulty as the exodus of Legends suggests, per the article. I think it's a fair point, but I also think Nintendo will do a much better job than Sony in garnishing their systems (3DS and U) with mega-sellers.
With their track-record I'm surprised you'd doubt that. Numbers don't lie.
