No where near as much as Mario Kart. Besides, Just Dance is no longer exclusive to Nintendo. |
Seems to be a pattern with Ubisoft. Could we expect Zombi U on PS3/360?

| VGKing said: It's true that Sony may rely too heavily on 3rd party support, but to say that they need 1st party support is just trolling. They absolutely have 1st party support. In fact PS3 1st party support has been much better than it was back during PS2/PS1 era. This year alone we get 2-3 AAA games. God of War, The Last of Us and Beyond. You failed. |
Glad we agree that Sony relies too heavily on 3rd party... even though they put out a lot of 1st party games, they don't sell well or move units. The Last of Us and Beyond look great, but we'll see how many units they move. God of War will do fine.

PS All Stars is DEFINITELY a new IP. You a can't argue against that. It's a new IP. End of Story. LBP K is a spin off, but the gameplay is completely different from LBP 1 and 2. So it might as well be a new IP. You count Mario Kart and Super Mario Bros as seperate IP right? |
I don't know... would you consider Smash a new IP?
What about Mario Kart?
| pezus said: I know. It still was probably the sole reason for Wii's continued relatively high sales after Nintendo abandoned it. It certainly helped more than zelda back in 2011 |
It wasn't the sole reason. But of course it helped more than a Zelda game.

Doubt it because of a) the name and b) without a touchscreen the inventory system would be as shitty as the one found in Alone in the Dark (PS3/360).

Seeing as how no third party titles stay on Nintendo Consoles as of late, sure!
All they'll have to do is get rid of all that Gamepad interaction and change the name.
Guys. Guys. Stay focus. This thread is about WiiU dooming. Leave Sony alone. Go make your own PSV doom thread instead.

No, VGKing... YOU are not making excuses for the Vita, but generally those excuses were/are made here. But I said that just to juxtapose the apologist sentiment toward Vita being totally different to the punitive sentiment toward Wii U. One is doomed while the other gets the benefit of the doubt. And that was only to accentuate LilChicken22's point - which I thought was valid. And you're kinda doing the same thing with the second part of your post though. Wii U will have a fine future with plenty of Nintendo exclusives. There are games to look forward to, games that WILL move units. So that puts it in a much better position than the Vita. I know you want to be down on the system. And it might not be the system for you, and that's fair. But PS3 went through this too and it turned out fine (moreso due to 3rd parties as opposed to 1st party), it'll be the same with Wii U (just moreso to 1st party rather than 3rd parties). Does that sound fair to you? |
I get where you're coming from but the Vita excuses have gone by. No one is defending it anymore, low sales are no longer a surprise, they are expected. Wii U sales are low at this point and you see many including me pointing it out, why? Because it is unexpected. Give it a month or two and people will stop pointing/laughing at Wii U sales either because they'll be better by then or because it's become a trend.
Another thing, don't compare the Wii U to PS3. Wii U will not get the level of support the PS3 got. Combine that with the fact that Nintendo consoles peak very early.....I think the Wii U doom and gloom are articles are not only justified but they are worth discussing. Nintendo's 1st party software alone isn't enough to make their console competiive. Just look at the Gamecube.
Nintendo never should have made another system similar to the PS3/360.
They either needed something that was a complete revolution like the Wiimote was (or at least very high on the novelty chart) or they needed to go back to the drawing board and made a more conventional system with a chipset that easily blew the 360/PS3 right out of the water from day 1.
I think the PS3/360 will dog the Wii U more than the PS4/720 actually. They'll always be cheaper with better third party support (by virtue of such a large install base that developers cannot ignore).

Wii sold well because it was something new. I think more people need to realize that. Did Gamecube not have huge Nintendo exclusives? Yes, it did. Did they help? Not much. Nintendo need to make something more than the usual Karts, Marios etc. They need another Wii Sports. |
I think Gamecube didn't do well because the behemoth that was the PS2 was too much to contend with. The Gamecube and XBox didn't really find as big an audience as Nintendo or MS would've hoped.
With the Wii, Nintendo's games coincided with humoungous boosts in hardware sales. So yes, they're software is what pushed the Wii, even beyond the novelty of motion controls. Even you allude to that by referencing Wii Sports.
I think any publisher would be happy with 10 million+ sales of the "usual Karts, Marios etc." Fans of those series' want new installments in those franchises, that's not a bad thing.
