Forums - Nintendo - IGN: Wii U's struggle to remain relevant

Tagged games:

The article in itself is okay in my book, read the whole thing. Nothing really dooming Nintendo and a little more optomistic about the situation...

But the whole sneak peak of yesterday's hyping just to post a rather disapointing outcome of Rayman Legends delayed, then to come out and say it's our fault that we put our expectation to fall.
Bloody hell, the sneak peak announcement was meant to be hyped, right??? That's was infuriates me. Heck, I didn't even think that this news was going to be anything and keeping my expectations very low, but it saddens me deeply for others that did!
If someone else from PS360 devision did this prank to Sony/Microsoft fans, I'd feel very bad for them too. One of the best trolling I've ever seen in a long time, but a very sick and disturbing one at that, lads!

Wii U loses exclusivity of one game, Wii U is doomed and irrelevant.

Sony loses lots of money because of PS3, Vita selling at Dreamcast-levels, PS All Stars and Little Big Racing sold poorly, PS4 will be one hell of a console.

That sort of double standard happens alot around here though.

For example:  with the Vita is was - "wait for Vita Heaven", "wait for E3", "wait for GDC", "wait until after Xmas", and now "wait until Soul Sacrifice".  For Wii U, it's just declared doomed after two months, there's no waiting for anything.

It's some people, not all.

By now no one is making up excuses for Vita. It's selling badly and that's not going to change any time soon. Soul Sacrifice might push some systems in Japan but I don't see anyone saying this will save the system.

For Wii U, people learned from the Vita. If people don't wait it, they don't want it. There needs to be compelling games and atractive prices in order to push the Wii U. I don't see a price cut any time soon and I dont' see the big Nintendo 1st party games coming until the end of the year.

EXACTLY. That is Sony's problem, they rely too heavily on 3rd party. They need 1st party support, it doesn't look like they're going to get it. This is due not only to Sony being Sony...

Fixed for you again.  You keep making mistakes.  You should start proofreading.

It's true that Sony may rely too heavily on 3rd party support, but to say that they need 1st party support is just trolling. They absolutely have 1st party support. In fact PS3 1st party support has been much better than it was back during PS2/PS1 era. This year alone we get 2-3 AAA games. God of War, The Last of Us and Beyond. You failed.

It makes me sick to my stomach that this bastard makes more money than i do. Idiots like him are what's wrong with this world, and if the universe had any justice, he'd be out on the street.

IGN is dead to me now. Fuck them. Even the chief director of the NINTENDO team is feeding this doom and gloom for the loss of a stupid exclusive no one would have bought... Ubisoft is gonna bite its nails when GTAV crushes all their hopes. Hope they die of a painful death. Screw IGN.

...

What? His article makes perfect sense and analysis the situation realistically. The Wii U has lost a major exclusive and it's forecasted shipments were slashed by 20%. That is massive.

I can't see how on earth what he wrote justifys any of what you have both said. If he said it doesn't mean anything for the Wii U, that'd be nothing more than a lie.

Why are you so upset?

Because i don't like that people get rewarded for bad behavior like this. He's made money for IGN by trolling Nintendo fans hard, and in a just world, people wouldn't make money for spreading horsehshit.

He should go back to college and study for a real fucking job.

He said it was interesting Wii U related news... And it sure as hell is. He did nothing wrong really. He never said it was positive. He never said it was news exclusive to Wii U. He never told you to get as hyped as you seemingly did.

Sony is maikng money on PS3. Are you stuck in 2006?

Vita is selling horribly, but it is not one of Sony's pillars. Besides they are focusing on profitability instead of marketshare.

PS All Stars and LBP K are both NEW IP. Yes, they sold poorly but then again did you expect them to sell on the level of Smash Bros and Mario Kart? I sure didn't. At least Sony is creating new IP, something which seems to be a foreign concept to Nintendo.

Yes, PS4 will be one hell of a console. Why? Because the PS3 is amazing and PS4 will be 10x as amazing in every aspect.

I'd actually argue that PS All Stars and LBP K ARE NOT new IP.  In fact, LPB K is DEFINITELY not a new IP - it's just a spin off.

PS All Stars is DEFINITELY a new IP. You a can't argue against that. It's a new IP. End of Story.

LBP K is a spin off, but the gameplay is completely different from LBP 1 and 2. So it might as well be a new IP. You count Mario Kart and Super Mario Bros as seperate IP right?

Why did anyone even get hyped over his Tweet? I sure as hell didn't!

Just Dance definitely did

No where near as much as Mario Kart. Besides, Just Dance is no longer exclusive to Nintendo.

No, VGKing... YOU are not making excuses for the Vita, but generally those excuses were/are made here.  But I said that just to juxtapose the apologist sentiment toward Vita being totally different to the punitive sentiment toward Wii U.  One is doomed while the other gets the benefit of the doubt. And that was only to accentuate LilChicken22's point - which I thought was valid.

And you're kinda doing the same thing with the second part of your post though.  Wii U will have a fine future with plenty of Nintendo exclusives.  There are games to look forward to, games that WILL move units.  So that puts it in a much better position than the Vita.  I know you want to be down on the system.  And it might not be the system for you, and that's fair.  But PS3 went through this too and it turned out fine (moreso due to 3rd parties as opposed to 1st party), it'll be the same with Wii U (just moreso to 1st party rather than 3rd parties).

Does that sound fair to you?

I think Mr. Kahn is angry about how this whole thing played out, wich put him off to even read article... wich I can relate to an extend.

But yeah, the article in itself is really not to blame, Mr.K... :)
