It's like Sony just decided to enter the console space because Nintendo refused to work with them.

I kind of expected them to finally have been pulling in an appreciable annual profit by now, with that taking a nosedive as R & D for the new console ate up cash. That they've always still been at thin profit margins, even with a seven-year old console that's selling decently and the receipt of $50/year for offering something that's free elsewhere, was not what I expected. |
they probably have a pretty good profit by video game standards, probably not a very big profit by microsoft standards...

Lol did you read Kowens comment? They seem identical.
I remember Bill gates saying they looked at Sony's success with the PS1 and how big the home video market had grown since their entry and wanted to be part of that and entering the console business would give them control of the whole ecosystem something unobtainable in the PC space ,another thing was they had plenty of PC gaming experience so it was a good fit , but as he said the main driving force was Sony's successful entry and the way the market had grown and was only going to get bigger.
Research shows Video games help make you smarter, so why am I an idiot
Both have lost precious markets against Apple. Sony couldn't adapt to the post walkman era, Apple just came and stole their riches with the Itunes and iPod, MS had experience with tablets but Apple owns the market with the iPads now.

Lol nope, on my phone atm so only read the OP, and now your post because the purple marker made it stand out. :P

What's with these ridiculous claims lately?
First "Sony fed misinformation to Activision so that Microsoft underpowered the neXtbox and it's not fair!"
Now "Sony didn't want to be friends with Microsoft so they entered the console race".
Really? :|
Well it worked, Sony is in financial difficulties and lost significant market share along with massive lost on PS3, but I highly doubt that was their intention and they probably just wanted a piece of the pie
