Ah.. Yes.. A new gen.. How lovely.. And with a new gen new victims will come.. We have seen it in the past: Dino Crisis, Socom, Guitar Hero, Road Rash, Onimusha, Viewtiful Joe, Turok and many more popular games couldn't make the jump.. So which ones will it be this time? halo? Uncharted? Gears of War? Resistance? Infamous? 2d mario? Call of duty? Final Fantasy? Finally Sonic? Mega Man can't make the jump?

Kind of a longshot but Assassin's Creed. I feel they're going to mess it up.

I don't think Assassin's Creed will be back for much more, not without a fresh new story to tide people over. I think we'll be seeing a change rather than a retirement.

I have a strong suspicion that Resident Evil will not survive. And neither will Silent Hill. Or at least we may see a respite regarding both titles.

Sonic has seen some resurgence with newer games, so that's a definite now on that front. Sonic is very much not ready to retire.

Sadly Dead Space 3 is it for that franchise, maybe it will back in gen 9

Mega Man already died... Inafune left Capcom and nobody is really seriously working on it anymore.

I hear a new Onimusha game will be coming.

As for franchise demise... Square Enix is already tottering on the edge much due to their MMO failures of FF14 and DQ10. They were the only big third party game publisher in Japan to post in the red for the quarter.

Dead Space is one of my favorite new IPs, and I´ve been reading a lot of reviews today and it seems many share the opinion the game takes a nosedive once you reach the ice planet...and that the story is really, really terrible.
