I don't think Assassin's Creed will be back for much more, not without a fresh new story to tide people over. I think we'll be seeing a change rather than a retirement.
I have a strong suspicion that Resident Evil will not survive. And neither will Silent Hill. Or at least we may see a respite regarding both titles.
Sonic has seen some resurgence with newer games, so that's a definite now on that front. Sonic is very much not ready to retire.
