Not sure if i will, though. |
It's about more than just the DF article though. It's about the state of the Wii U as a whole as in sales, 3rd party support...etc. I think it makes for a great discussion.

Do it! Lock lock lock!
This article adds nothing.
disolitude said: Meh...people on this site really need to chillax about console power. 3DS rapes PSVita in terms of fun factor and it's like 1/2 as powerful... |
I think you were trying make a point about the subjective nature of enjoyment here but screwed up half way through
Anyway, dupe thread so I say lock, the thread you should all be following anyway is here http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=511628&page=24

And they are basing that on how powerful the GPU despite them not having a clear idea about how powerful the GPU is.

My point is simple... more hardware power =/ better games.
WiiU is plenty powerful to provide Nintendo quality gaming and 3rd party ports. People who think next console gen is going to be be all/and of of graphics are going to be very dissapointed.

Yes I agree with the first sentence, in essence. I got jumpy because I felt "3DS rapes PSVita in terms of fun factor" was a bit of a pointed way to make that argument. That's just me being sensitive though.
Their bases is the terrible-jumping early to conclusions DF article, whose source is the NeoGaf thread. And that thread has not reached to a conclusion yet.

VGKing said: http://isitgaming.blogspot.com/2013/02/reverse-engineering-reveals-wii-u-to-be.html A new Digital Foundry article has finally revealed the systems graphical power. The article reveals what most already knew: The Wii U is not a next-generation console. Not in terms of horsepower or technology. In fact Digital Foundry goes as far to say that the PS4 and Xbox 720 will be in an entire different league than the Wii U. What this means is that the Wii U is unlikely to receive ports of AAA 3rd party games such as the next-generation Call of Duty or Assassin's Creed, as it is would be technically impossible to have all 3 versions of the game be on par. Power isn't the only problem plaguing the Wii U. The unique Wii U Gamepad has also kept some developers from making games for the system as they have said they would like to do something special with the controller. This news comes after Nintendo has lowered their Wii U sales forecast for the quarter from 5.5 million to 4 million. The Wii U is not performing up to Nintendo's standards and as a result stock prices have been falling. Iwata, the president of Nintendo has recently apologized to Nintendo fans for the lack of game releases for Wii U and has admitted to having troubles with HD development. As a result Nintendo plans many partnerships with Japanese third party companies in order to develop games together.
