Forums - Gaming - Wii U graphics power finally revealed - "we can now finally rule out any next-gen pretensions for the Wii U"

yes twilight princess looked better overall but it took 6 years and it was still inferior in some things. what if nintendo pulls off a cell shaded zelda again, which a real possibilty, since they that with sky sword and WW

I didn't care much for Skyward Sword's look, but if they go with young Link and it retains the cel shading style of Wind Waker (which was much better than SS), I'd love that. I doubt it though since they are already doing the WW reboot, but as they also said they were experimenting with different styles it may still differ from the WiiU demo.

My point though was to emphasize that the graphical prowess of the demos are either matched or exceeded by the end product, so as not to assume that it couldn't hit that level.

At least it turned out to be a really good game though :D You DID play it right?

No, I'm talking about the first reveal of Wind Waker at Space World 2001:

... compared to the final game:

What you're talking about is the first showing of the Gamecube at Spaceworld 2000:

... and Twilight Princess trumped that as well overall:

And Ocarina of Time/Majora's Mask absolutely dwarfed the original N64 demos shown:

So yeah, I think if we get this or better on WiiU, most people will be quite pleased with that:

/endthread

No one is going to care that the graphics of the Wii U can never look as realistic as other offerings when  Zelda (or any Nitnendo IP) looks at the very least, like that ^^^

Watching this video again makes me really question Nintendo. Why couldn't they make Mario look half as good? Amazingly poor effort compared to this. I hope 3D Mario will look this stunning.

If you are talking about NSMBU then I say they made the right choice on that one.

What?!
An underpowered 4650/4670?!
What the hell were the guys at Nintendo smoking when they put in such old crap? For a solo console, Nintendo have just made sure that no next gen game can multiplatform to it by a huge margin. What idiots.

Yet everyone else will be playing at these graphics to begin with:

First off, we'll see if everyone else will BEGIN at Samaritan graphic fidelity...

Secondly, it does nothing to refute my point, which was that the Zelda demo looks great - and certainly good enough for most people.

zelda demo looks like very high end current gen , but its just a demo and just one game, with the power of nextgen, i want play batman, crysis3, dead space, madden, witcher 3, watch dogs and many more third party offering in amazing nextgen graphics, not to mention sony first party offering will out of this world.

"We've also heard more about how the system apparently works and what it will be like to control it and play games on it, though we've not seen the unit ourselves. Our source even claims to have played some Durango games, describing the graphical leap from current-gen console gaming like going from playing Halo 2 on an original Xbox to playing Crysis on a powerful PC. Our source for this new info goes by the name SuperDaE."

Halo 2 on Xbox 1

Halo 4 on Xbox 360 (next gen after Halo 2)

Crysis 1 (PC maxed out) - came out in 2007.

Crysis 1 (modded) - Probably how PS5's / Xbox 1080's first party titles would look maxed out by 2024-2025. :)
