I know that the 360's graphics chip is more powerful than the PS3's, what I DIDN't know was that the PS2's was that slow.  The PS2 pumped out some AMAZING visuals given it's graphical 'weakness.'

I thought I remember him saying that he was going to develop it on his own without Sony's help.

 Too bad none of that translates to what is on screen.  I think I dropped 15 points off my IQ after reading your post.  15x this, and 20x that, ummm, ok.  You don't do a very good job of proving your point by merely saying console A is X times faster than console B, because that has nothing to do with the final product (ie what you see on screen).  "Less than 2x does not equal 16-30x"  <---- I seriously LOLed when I read that.  That whole post sounded super fanboyish..sorry, but its true.  I don't even know what to say.

360's chip is not more powerful.  that is a flat out lie.  the ps3 chip is more powerful, but thats when u take away the 360's ram benefit.  the 360 chip is better under a completely distorted amount of shading and texture work (doesnt happen), while ps3 is better under a balance (doesnt happen either).  the 360 chip is also better when the cpu isnt being used, but a dev wont  not maximize the cpu to maximize the gpu.  the case will happen where the gpu does get to use tons of ram, but not often.

 in other words, count them as even.

I just played God of War for PS2 after playing nothing but PS3 for about a year.

It seriously looks like shit. I couldn't believe how bad it used to be. It is still a great game and all, but I was suprised how far it had advanced without me noticing. PS1 to PS2 was very noticable because PS1 was a pixel loaded piece of shit.

ANYWAY, my point is, unless they can keep up the advancements they have been making, I don't see the point of a new console.

 u dont know moore's law do u?  if ninty were to get back on it (basing this on the gamceube, because the wii is not on moore's law)  and release in 2010 (yes, thats early), it would about 2-4 times as strong as the ps3 or 360.  since im assuming the gc was about 18 months behind the tech curve (xbox level in other words.  made for profit not just speed) and it will release in 2013 (i think this will be a long gen).  it would be 32x as strong as ps3 or 360.  and then it wouldbe stronger since it would have to match the next gen consoles.

 moore's law:  the processor speed will double every 18 months.  its held true for a long time and is expected to hold for a minimum of 10 more years, barring a breakthrough.

I wouldn't think Sony would start planning the next one this early.

^ of course they start planning this early!!! (according to thesource in 2 yrs [2010] the ps4 will come out!)

in fact i think nintendo should be planning for the next system!!
