Would you want consoles that only play games?

Oh wow, a fellow CR user. I liked the app on my 360, but haven't downloaded it on my PS3. I imagine they are the same.

Maybe its just me, but I don't think the video quality is as good when I'm just watching it on my 360 as opposed to when I hook up my laptop to my TV directly through HDMI and watching at 1080p. But maybe that's just me, or some placebo effect.


the quality should be the same, probably depends on ur internet connection cuz ur 360 might not have a good wifi signal...prob just in ur head tho xd

All the bells and whistles are nice, but in the end that's all they are: bells and whistles.

All I need is a hunk of plastic that plays video games. That is the only thing that is essential to the process.

I don't really use my ps3 for anything but games, but extra features are always nice I suppose.

Is it really that hard to just ignore the Netflix icon/Nintendo TVii stuff? Just pop in your game disc and play, no big deal.

Believe me man, I have the best internet service provider in the country since I play a lot of multiplayer games. I get like 30 Mb/s on average. Plus my 360 is hooked up to the router directly through ethernet. If anything it should be getting the better connection since my laptop is wireless.

Probably my head, but I think I read an article on CR stating the PS3 didn't initially have HD playback option while they added it in later and its 720p. So maybe there's no 1080. I don't know lol. I'll go with what I have.

That is a really good point.  Don't go half way - give us all sorts of options, or don't bother.

Personally, I know there are people that only want their cell phone to make calls.  But I personally like that I don't have to carry a pager, address book, calendar, camera, encyclopedia, etc. all around together.

Last gen it was a nice plus that the PS2 and Xbox could be used as DVD players.  Those players, were still fairly expensive when those came out.

I think Consoles are going to stay, and increase in multi media options.  I think it’s probably inevitable and for the best.

 



 

Really not sure I see any point of Consol over PC's since Kinect, Wii and other alternative ways to play have been abandoned.
