If the rumored MH4 port comes to Vita, and I think there's a good chance it will, the Vita very well might outsell Wii U lifetime. Look what MH did for the PSP.

Difference is it won't have that exclusivity. Will you go out and spend $300 for the PSVita version, or just $50 for the 3DS version?

An off comparison, a 3DS owner vs a non Vita owner.

What about people without either?  Or people who are interested in Vita and some games on it and just need a little more incentive, like a version of a game on a system with superior features that compliment it?

Why do people keep saying they are 1m apart? VGC says 1.72m, or am I seeing something wrong? And WiiU sold most units at launch, just like Vita. At the current rate it would take WiiU 3 years to close the gap...

WiiU won't outsell Vita until the holidays in any case. I still think WiiU has much better chances, but it's not SO out there.

You skipped over one very important thing.
The PSVita doesn't have Nintendo First Party games.

Gamecube had also Nintendo first party but it sold not well

PS4 - over 100 millions let's say 120m
Xbox One - 70m
Wii U - 25m

Vita - 15m if it will not get Final Fantasy Kingdoms Heart and Monster Hunter 20m otherwise
3DS - 80m

But those first party games made the difference between Nintendo surviving the Gamecube generation and being oblierated. And the market has grown since then.

They'll be close. I think 40-50m for the Vita, 50-60m for WiiU when its all said and done, highly optimistic for WiiU numbers though.

I think they will both sell well. Early sales are just horrible.

I think they'll be demolished by their competitors.

And psp survive without first party and 3rd party

Europe has and probably always will be Sony's saving grace.
The PS3 has outsold the 360 there and is only 4mill behind the wii. But the other, bigger, territories like the US will always prefer MS and Ninty, and i dont think this is gonna change with the coming generation. The WiiU is barely out of launch stage, hell, its not even out of its launch window yet, with huge games like Dragon quest and Monster hunter coming this year i have no worries about the WiiU's success. Meanwhile the Vita is getting increasingly shunned for games, with Capcom revealing they are not putting Resident Evil Revelations on there (the only console of this gen to not get it) i would say this trend is gonna increase.

In short... No.

psp only survived because of the terrible security on it which made homebrew extremely easy. No games were being sold for it, only systems. which means less profit for sony in the long run.
