No one knows that the Wii U has motion controls because they've chosen to focus entirely on the gamepad.

The GamePad has a type of motion controls.

I don't see it being Sony's main focus though. Even when Sony was focusing on it, they didn't make it their focus. They even said they weren't expecting instant sales for it if I remember correctly. Kinect Adventures is the highest selling 360 game and will be at 20 million in sales by the time that the nextbox comes out. We know they're developing Kinect 2, whereas we aren't sure what Sony are planning for the Move. Just as I can say that Nintendo haven't exactly been touting the motion controls for the WiiU (which might change after WiiFitU comes out.) |
Kinect Adventures only has those sales because it was bundled with the Kinect. Can you even buy it seperatly at retail? I have honestly never seen it at any video game/electronic store other than when it's included with a Kinect purchase. I wouldn't call it a "success"

I mean relative to the casual crowd that flocked to the Wii. They aren't interested, for the most part, in the gamepad. Nintendo needs to let them know that the Wii U can fill their Zumba/Just Dance needs, as well.
Instead of saying, "LOOK, THE GAMEPAD," they should be saying, "look, the Wii U can satisfy your entire family, from the members who want to play CoD to those who want to jump up and down." They should be trying to present the Wii U as the total package of family entertainment.

They should be, I agree. But their marketing for this isn't the best.
Kinect 2 won't be a big hype. If its basically a better Kinect with better tracking, it won't have a big impact, unless its bundled with every 720. People have already seen what the Kinect is about, the hype died out. Kinect 2.0 needs to have groundbreaking new features for it to have a chance to grab the casual crowd.

It's possible but it depends on whether Kinect 2 can do anything that the original Kinect couldn't do well or do at all

Don`t really think it will be as big as Kinect 1.0. What most people will see is that it does the same thing as Kinect 1.0.
Move was a better controller than the Wiimote and that didnt do anything for them with that market.
Better technology won`t change the fact that the premise is still the same: controller free motion gaming.

depends on what kinect 2 is and what it does. Kinect as it is now wouldn't be that big, however, that illumiroom technology was pretty cool. We will just have to wait until microsoft unveils their plans before we can really say...
| Gamerace said: Kinect 2 doesn't need to compete with WiiU - WiiU is a non-contender. Kinect 2 (and the other stuff MS is rumoured to have in the works) will be every important in fighting the tablet market. Offering a compelling experience that tablets will never have - period. (opposed to experiences that tablets half-ass but half-ass for next to nothing -ie: Call of Duty, sports) and to distinquish itself from PS4. 720 with Kinect + multimedia will be a lot easier sell to the wife/gf or parents than PS4 or even WiiU. |
you forgot the "I think" part.. and what do you base it on? we don't know what either of those things are yet.
