The competition always has an impact, don't kid yourself thinking otherwise. This applies for all companies. Nintendo did their share of dumb moves to be where they are now with the wiiu..but it's not mutually exclusive. IF MS/Sony does well in their product launches you can bet anything wiiu would be in a worse situation that it is at now

I think they will just reveal the orbis/PS4 and just show few games that will launch with the system.
They won't show the specs to public.
E3 I think is the place for that. They really need to save a announcement for E3 because MS will surely take the spotlight from announcing the Durango on E3. They can't afford to have that.

What Sony wants do now is go back to PS2-Gamecube domination. Same thing could happen as 3DS vita though. When we heard about struggling 3DS sales and a bleaker future, their was plenty of vita news coming out. Wii U might be almost Wii healthy when PS4 launches. |
Eesh. That would be really tough! I do think the Wii U will be doing much better by December, with a pretty strong spring/summer lineup and what looks like Zelda, 3D Mario, and Mario Kart all in the same Holiday season. I'm not confident it can manage Wii-level sales, but it doesn't have to. It just has to be healthy by the time the PS4 and 720 launch, and I think (and hope) it will be.
Nintendo may not "win" the upcoming home console generation, but I doubt the Wii U will get squashed the way the GameCube was.

We'll see the PS4 design, a quick look at the OS, some gameplay from games that are coming, as its very important to shock the people what we can expect and to shut people up who don't expect a big jump. Its also important they announce a release for this year, otherwise you can bet on it its releasing somewhere early next year.
They'll probably reveal a bit of the specs at GDC, then all of it on E3.

Yeah, I don't expect we'll see more than this; we'll see the design, some footage and roughly when it is expected to launch, and maybe one or two game announcements...
I'm on Twitter @DanneSandin!
Furthermore, I think VGChartz should add a "Like"-button.
By the way, did we get Sony financials yet? Maybe showing better profit than Nintendo will be much better move from Sony?
Or they just try to hide their losses announcing new console everybody already know about?
Personally, right now, I think Sony cares more about making money than dominating. I think they should take advantage of approximate $75 worth of Kinect 2.0 hardware cost and split it between tech and profits.
I will be watching.

Face the future.. Gamecenter ID: nikkom_nl (oh no he didn't!!)
Perhaps PS4 Design and some prerendered clips of some games.
Sony would be very glad if their financial results are near Nintendos. The truth us that Sony is near bancruptcy.
