Forums - Sales - PS3 Won 2012 After All!

Well deserved. I know the 360 is more popular in America, but this is getting ridiculous how much the Ps3 is STILL getting owned over here.

But you don't see how rediculous the 360 getting owned over in Japan.

I'm pretty sure those figures only account for 3/4 of the year, though including the other quarter probably wouldn't change the result.

which quarter are you talking about? Q1 since its not included in nintendo's fiscial year for 2012?

Depends on whether we're talking about fiscal or calendar 2012. The data covers Apr-Dec 2012, so if you want to compare calendar, it's missing Jan-Mar 2012. If you want to compare fiscal, it's missing Jan-Mar 2013, which obviously hasn't happened yet.

These are the full 2012 numbers for US, Japan and some Europe contries... VGC tracks more countries in Europe.

But using the YoY from Nintendo numbers I can say VGC is undertracking every console in Europe.... I expected some adjustments soon.

The numbers are calendar... Jan to Dec 2012.

The data is full 2012... Jan to Dec... just look at the NPD or Famistsu numbers... it's inline with full 2012.

Edit - There numbers shows the VGC is undertracking every console in Europe.

Edit 2 - The number are sold.

Oh, and there is also this:

Except for the UK, PS3 has outsold 360 everywhere in Europe by a wide margin.

"Well certainly with the Xbox 360, we had some challenges at the launch. Once we identified that we took control of it. We wanted to do it right by our customers. Our customers are very important to us." -Larry "Major Nelson" Hryb (10/2013). Note: RRoD was fixed with the Jasper-revision 3 years after the launch of 360

"People don't pay attention to a lot of the details."-Yusuf Mehdi explaining why Xbone DRM scheme would succeed

"Fortunately we have a product for people who aren't able to get some form of connectivity; it's called Xbox 360,”-Don Mattrick

"The region locking of the 3DS wasn't done for profits on games"-MDMAlliance

Market Share between PS3 and 360 in every countrie.

Year over Year comparison between Nintendo and VGchartz

CONSOLE NINTENDO VGC STATUS
PS3 -11% -18% Under
360 -19% -39% Under
WII -49% -58% Under
3DS +2% 0% On Spot
PSP -21% -57% Under
DS -79% -68% Over

The yearly drop in Europe is way less than VGC estimated... ALL CONSOLES ARE UNDERTRACKED except 3DS (on spot) and DS (overtracked).

360 for example needs a adjustments near 400k... so that put it inline with the shipped numbers release by Microsoft last week.

Nintendo Numbers

EUROPE
PS3 4,343,500
360 3,015,500
WII 2,042,000
WIU 425,000

US
PS3 3,410,000
360 5,320,000
WII 1,960,000
WIU 890,000

JAPAN

PS3 1,223,699
360 77,789
WII 475,615
WIU 627,287

VGCHARTZ
EUROPE
PS3 4,747,822 - + 404k
X360 2,932,781 - (-) 83k
Wii 1,717,972 - (-) 325k
WiiU 452,259 + 25k

USA

X360 5,566,035 - + 246k
PS3 3,433,720 - + 23k
Wii 2,022,503 - + 62k
WiiU 933,131 - + 43k

JAPAN
PS3 1,233,261 - + 10k
WiiU 633,377 - (-) 6k
Wii 470,125 - (-) 5k
X360 71,927 - + 6k

Difference Nintendo x Vgchartz (US+Europe+Japan)
PS3 - Overtracked by 437k
Xbox 360 - Overtracked by 157k
Wii - Undertracked by 287k
Wii U - Overtracked by 63k

I'm really confused. This numbers are shipped or sold to consumer? Nintendo said that they shipped 3.06m Wii U and now the number is 1.942m (US+JAP+EUROPE).
If is shipped, this represents more than 1m is for others? Wow!
And would be disastrous for PS3 and Xbox 360, if is this case vgchartz OVERTRACKED it in comparison to shipped numbers, If shippments for PS3 are 437k more than what we have like sold to consumer in Vgchartz, maybe PS3 is 1m overtracked or more!
If this numbers are sold to consumer, so vgchartz are a little overtracked in general, and the gap between PS3 and Xbox 360 are smaller than we have (almost 300k).
