By the way SE is doing things recently I bet it'll be a Multi-Plat.

OH SHIT, system seller confirmed! (at least for me~)

BasilZero said: Technically Nintendo (4) They have the same number unless you include the final mixes - of course I didnt add the HD collection since it isnt out. |
The Final Mixes are just modified versions of the original games, and Re:Chain of Memories is a modified version of Chain of Memories, and thus also doesn't count. I suppose you could similarly argue that Re:coded is a modified version of another game, but it wasn't on a games console, it was a phone game.
And yeah, a "HD collection" similarly wouldn't count.

OK, but then we get Final Fantasy, too - after all, the first six were all on Nintendo consoles.

Kingdom Hearts started on a Sony console and gained popularity on a Sony console and all the main sequels are exclusive. that's why its a Sony exclusive.

Was it selling 10m on the snes ? no!!
Without the PS1 Final Fantasy would be dead the ps1 brought it back to life.

How does one define "main sequel"? The fact that it's numbered?
OK, so Final Fantasy 2 is a main sequel to Final Fantasy 1.
More importantly, it's not an official exclusive. The franchise is seen on other platforms, and that in itself proves that you can't be certain about what happens in the future.
Consider that Final Fantasy 1-6 were all on Nintendo platforms. And then Final Fantasy 7 was on the Playstation. Consider that Monster Hunter 1 and 2 were both on PS2, and all the other games in the franchise were on Sony systems... until Monster Hunter 3 turned up on the Wii.
In fact, Monster Hunter 3 puts paid, so to speak, to your assertion, because it's pretty much a more extreme version of what would happen in the case of Kingdom Hearts 3, since MH hadn't been on a Nintendo system before MH3 was an exclusive.

Oh, so that's the formula?
Well then, Monster Hunter 3 easily outsold the previous numbered versions. Therefore, Nintendo keeps Monster Hunter.
We can play this game all day.
@Above: You guys should take that to a wall. You don't want to make Smeags angry.

The gameplay and character development in Zelda and Fire Emblem is so different that you are guaranteed to disappoint at least one fanbase. Super Mario Bros. and Donkey Kong Country may both be 2D platformers, but there's one fundamental difference: Mario develops momentum in jumps, Donkey Kong only does so for the first half of a barrel roll jump. At least one fanbase is guaranteed to not get the usual controls for their character. With every beloved IP come certain expectations. IPs usually become beloved for unique characteristics. If you mesh such characteristics, the result doesn't work well more often than not. Super Smash Bros. is the exception, not the rule. Its success has much to do with throwing the expectations of all its included IPs overboard and doing something else entirely. Something that is good and can stand on its own. |
I would just use Fire Emblem mechanics with Zelda characters. Idc. Two characters controlling differently in a platformer, who ever heard of that?
