Toss a coin if you really have no gaming preference whatsoever. Impossible to advice you anyway.

Home consoles always deliver better than handhelds. The Wii U will be better in the long run.

3ds by far:
1. Current Library is much larger.
2. In just February and March it will get: Fire Emblem, Dragon Quest, Etrian Odyssey, Castlevania, Luigi's Mansion and Pokemon Mystery Dungeon...and a bunch of smaller games (at minimum 1 game a week).
3. It has a great lineup throughout all of 2013.
4. because it's selling well, 3rd party will continue to support it.
5. Nintendo 1st party already includes: A mario 3d, mario 2d, Mario Kart, Paper Mario, Zelda: Ocarina of Time, and Kid Icarus (and those are the ones from the top of my head).

3DS is going to have an amazing 2013.  It IS the system to get this year.

Depends what games you want really. Hard to give advice other than that.
Right now the library for 3DS is stronger, so I would go with 3DS, personally.
But there is also a lot to look forward to on the Wii U front too, particularly the Wonderful 101 and Pikmin 3.
3DS has Animal Crossing, Luigi's Mansion, and Pokemon X+Y coming up, as well as a richer current library of games like Mario Kart, Super Mario 3D Land, and what have you.

as of right now and the next 6 months 3ds i would say. i love my wiiu but theres not a lot of compelling stuff to play right now. Though there are a few good titles.

I guess it depends on the kind of games you're into.

Get a 3DS now, get a Wii by year's end.

3ds best choice atm, but I got a wiiu because handhled gaming is subpar and wiiu is the future.

Much as I like the 3ds I think the wii u will be better in the long run. But at present this is probably speculation and wishful thinking...
