No, they should do exactly what I said. Focus on balance and depth, instead of gimmicks. Pure gameplay, like SMK, MK64 and MKDS.

Depth and balance I agree on, but what gimmick did MKWii have?

I'd also argue that SMK and MK64 had some serious shortcomings (mostly design choices unacceptable by today's standards) that I'd like to see absent from MKWiiU.

Ok, but I would argue that they don't. The problem with Wii, is that the gameplay is shallow, and that balance is weak. Oh, and it also have those gimmicky bikes. You might think it's better than SMK or MK64, but it's not, not even if they would have realeased at the same time, because gameplay is all that matters. and those 3 games I mentioned are by far the best in the series because of just that.

I want 16 racers per race. I didn't like how there was only 8 for Mario Kart 7

Why's there so much talk about that Sega game? Are we supposed to pretend that it is competition? Screw that.

I predict that Nintendo will take the DLC route and rip us off.

Racing Transformed is certainly not sales competition for Mario Kart, but it sets the bar for kart racing on Wii U, and it does so by improving upon Nintendo's own game. If Nintendo iterates from Mario Kart 7 (as they likely would have if it hadn't been for Sega's game), they would wind up with a game startlingly similar to Racing Transformed.

Some interesting ideas being thrown around. Those who want to remove all the "gimmicks" and focus on balance and stuff -- don't you think that's more regular racing territory? As a kart racer, aren't the gimmicks and silliness part of the appeal to begin with?

Gameplay in SMK an MK64 was held back by the ridiculously unfair AI. In SMK they could spam weapons like invinicibility to their heart's content, and in MK64 they would sty right on your tail no matter how well you drove thanks to the insane rubber banding.

The only direction you can go in MK WiiU is left.

Nintendo trying to capture that white trash market.

I understand the problem here. You see MK as a single player game, which it is not. MK is a multiplayer franchise, much like for example CoD. If your experience with the older MKs had been more social, you would most likely understand, but it was not, so you don't.

All they have to do is take Mario Kart: Double Dash!! (Because DD!! is the best MK out there) and duct tape HD graphics onto it. The "Duct Tape" approach seems to work quite well with Nintendo.

They should go with hover cars, up the speed significantly, insanely hard tracks, techno soundtrack, incredible online multiplayer and have captain falcon as a playable character

Yeah! And instead of calling it Mario Kart they should call it F -Zero!

"Games are a trigger for adults to again become primitive, primal, as a way of thinking and remembering. An adult is a child who has more ethics and morals, that's all. When I am a child, creating, I am not creating a game. I am in the game. The game is not for children, it is for me. It is for an adult who still has a character of a child."
