Michel bay would have been better, I want to see transforming robots, boobs and explosions in my star wars

Boba Fett takes off his helmet...and it's Shia LeBeouf. Perfect.

Ongoing bet with think-man: He wins if MH4 releases in any shape or form on PSV in 2013, I win if it doesn't.

Even though I disagree about LOST's amazingness (after realizing they were just making it up as they went along and had no clear direction)...

Actually, the main ideas of the show (including the ending) were already planned from the beginning.  There were parts and individual story elements along the way that were ad libbed, but the main element running in the background where evil devised an elaborate plan to bypass the rules and dispose of good was always present throughout the entire show and when you rewatch it you notice those events and things make a lot more sense.

I was hooked to lost and was plowing through the 1st and 2nd season when I learned this and I was like.... this is all made upsequentially-ish?

It makes it demotivational to watch as compared to, say, Game of Thrones, which seems to have quite a complex and intricately weaved storyline.

Might be too early to call Arndt "great." Toy Story 3 was definitely great, but Little Miss Sunshine was supposedly just meh.

Granted, meh will do better than Lucas' dialogue <_>.

Lucas advising on worldbuilding and general story with a competent screenplay writer under him is the ideal split here.

Little Miss Sunshine was excellent. I wouldn't mind that kind of screenplay for Star Wars in some form.

smfh! have you people not seen LOST????????????????????????????

I saw lost, whats your point?

Don't be dense, his point is pretty clear. He liked Lost, thought it was epic, and think Abrams could pull off that level of epic with SW. Even though I disagree about LOST's amazingness (after realizing they were just making it up as they went along and had no clear direction), I still can see where he's coming from. I hate posts like "what's your point?" when it's pretty clear what he's trying to say, even if you or I disagree.

I asked what his point was because abrams actually had very little to do with lost.  He helped plan out the basic story arc and the pilot episode and then handed it over to a couple of other guys to produce.  He just slapped his name on it.  Whether he liked it or disliked it has very little to do with abrams.  That was the point of me asking what his point was.

He is excellent, Star Trek was really surprising. Good news.

The first season of LOST focuses greatly on the characters and their past, as they are very important to the story.  But the way the story is told where they purposely make you think one thing initially only to reveal it as another (often in stark contrast) is one of the things I love most about it.

So we'll have to agree to disagree that LOST doesn't have an intricate and well thought out storyline.  :)

That's true.  Most of what happened in LOST was headed by Damon Lindelof and Carlton Cuse.

Fair enough. But then I will watch it again to discuss it with you, because I felt really put off by the idea that they were just winging it on the fly (after watching the bonus features of the dvd.

well, it is now official, Disney confirmed it today! I'm actually pretty excited for star wars now!

J.J. Abrams!  It's official!

http://www.ign.com/articles/2013/01/24/jj-abrams-to-direct-star-wars-episode-vii

The director of Star Trek, Mission Impossible, and many other projects has agreed to direct the next star wars movie as well.  Now, the fans of star wars and star trek have never seemed to get along very well, and personally I dislike both franchises, but I love this news.  I actually really liked the last star trek movie and the next one looks amazing.  If Abrams can do that with star trek, a franchise that absolutely hated, what do you think he could with star wars?

What do you guys think?  excited?  mad?  don't care?

You have a common link between the Star Wars and Star Trek universes now?  I am interesting in the fallout in the fandom world.  Will this bring harmony, enshrine Abrams to god-like status in geekdom, or something more darker?

It will get real weird of Abrams is also brought in to work on Lord of the Rings stuff, and also brings back the Matrix.

The question is if the hardcore star wars fans will like abrams take on star wars, as the hardcore trek fans seemed to have hated his take on star trek.  I personally loved Abrams take on star trek, but I'm also not a star trek fan.

It seems to me that Abrams is good at taking geekdom mainstream.  I think the masses will love abrams star wars, but the fandom will probably not be happy, but then again, the bar is pretty low since the last prequel trilogy...
