If the script sucks, like the last 3, it won't help to hire Jesus to direct.

This time around they actually have a great writer (Michael Arndt)

Might be too early to call Arndt "great." Toy Story 3 was definitely great, but Little Miss Sunshine was supposedly just meh.

Granted, meh will do better than Lucas' dialogue <_>.

Lucas advising on worldbuilding and general story with a competent screenplay writer under him is the ideal split here.

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

Make it epic with female lead. Sell the movie to me Abrams!!!!

Don't fuck on Star Warssssss

Cant be any worse than Lucas. lol.

EXACTLY.

I hope it isn't shiny and unfeeling like the Star Trek movie. I mean, I didn't hate it, but original Star Wars was a lot more human.

I think we saw the same Star Trek movie

I was hoping it was M Night shamalan

Entirely unconfirmed rumour, he has previously ruled it out so I definitely wouldn't count on it

yes, but the wrap is supposedly very reliable at this sort of stuff.  Definitely happier with Abrams directing then Affleck, not that Affleck is neccessarily a bad director.  I think he is a much better director than actor, but I don't think he has the nerd cred to do something like star wars.

Abrams would be the absolute perfect fit for this position, in my opinion.

So the thing is, his latest Star Trek was probably my 2nd favourite film possibly ever... (I had never watched any Star Trek before) I also really liked Super 8 and would definitely rank Fringe and Lost in my top 10 TV shows ever, so you could definitely call me a JJ Abrams fan {I also like Alcatraz, will watch Person of Interest as well as Revolution as soon as the latter comes to the UK!}

I also really like Star Wars, so as you can see, this is not something I want taken away from me, so I am not going to get excited until it is 100% confirmed.

It is like a Square Enix countdown, they could be announcing something amazing, but it will probably be a crappy social iOS game

lol, I guess that is a good way to look at it.  I'm sure there will probably be a press release tomorrow or the early next week when they confirm who it is.  Looks like Abrams though...

Little Miss Sunshine meh according to what standard? :O

He even won an Oscar for that screenplay. The movie has 7.9 on IMDB and 80 on Metacritic. That is very good.

yes, LITTLE MISS SUNSHINE was an excellent movie. (Dunno who said it was 'meh', as pezus stated it what quite widely acclaimed when it was released)...

Also apparently Arndt is something of a big star wars fanboy.

maybe you should watch little miss sunshine, because it was pretty dang good.  If those are his credentials, those are two great screenplays to have under his belt!
