Nope, I said "Isn't it interesting?" :)

There won't be a nintendo 9th gen console, nintendo will go 3rd party after the Wii U fails to meet their expectations and 3DS falls short on the rising market of mobile devices, or that's what everyone says.

I backed down from a bet like a bitch.
I could see a hybrid of sorts. LIke if your at home your system gets the game in 1080p, but if your on the road it drops to 720p or something.
Essentially think of the Wii U. The tablet is the handheld console and can be played away from home, but when at home it syncs of with a console like the Wii U does and gives it more power to tap from.
Obviously the Pad needs to be smaller I woudl say for more portability. But I would love an idea something like this. Be nice to have to not have to get two consoles and just buy one.
ONLY problem I see with this is that as dominant the Nintnedo handheld market is, I don't know if Nintendo would risk that by making a hybrid that might confuse consumers, or be too expensive.

For bold I agree would be the biggest challenge for the new 280-man team in the new R&D department.
For underlined, I think product confusion doesn't last very long if 3DS and U are any indicator. Also, the pros would totally outweigh the cons of confusion.

French 1 fails me yet again.
It's possible, the level of technology is getting to the point where the diminishing returns for having powerful consoles will be enough that just simply making a lower-powered handheld will yield close enough visual results.
However, there are still games that just will not be practical on a handheld. Any kind of motion or peripheral game like Just Dance, Guitar Hero, Wii Fit, House of the Dead, etc... In order to satisfy this, there will still need to be some sort of box hub at the TV where peripherals and additional controllers can hook up.
The bigger problem would be that gaming console controllers are typically bulkier and larger than handhelds. The standard PSX controller won't fit comfortably in your pocket, and the Wii U gamepad certainly wouldn't.
Fairly cool idea though. It will be interesting to see where Nintendo takes things next generation. I am guessing it is an almost certainty that the handheld platforms will be further integrated into the console experience. Although I think this will probably happen this generation, rather than next.
I describe myself as a little dose of toxic masculinity.

That is what he said. One of the falicies you can fall into by using the retoric of one language and using it for another.
Off topic story: My spanish teacher told a story about this. (I took both French and Spanish) My school had a trip to Mexico for the senior students every two year. (The students paid for it the school got discounts.) And there was a female student who started a conversation with a group of boy on the trip. She stated in the converstion that she was embarazada. At that point the converstion fizzeled out. (embarazada doesn't mean ebarassed it means pregnate.)
On Topic: That seems where it going. But in five or so years it could be different. But I diffenatly see home consoles and portables combining, especially if it works this gen. The controllers will be the protable and the system will act as a dock/game hub where you can choose to stream your games or from a service or choose to dl them to your portable.
I have also been kicking around an idea for a new "class" of games based off of the efforts of Sega with the Dreamcast, the Gamecube/GBA connectivity, the PS3/Vita connectivity, WiiU/3DS possibilities and Microsofts Smartglass inititive. I will post it once I"m done. I have a plan. Now I just need to get it together.
That's a very interesting option that presents both benefits and problems.
But the big question would be: the machine would be a handheld console that connects to the TV or a home console whose controller can also function as a handheld? (something like a WiiU but with a GameBoy Advance as its controller something like the Nvidia thing with a PC).
The first option would lead to a machine with a lot more software (all Nintendo studios would work for it) and also a cheaper machine compared to the other option but it would also be less powerful and people could see it just as another handheld, something that could affect their sales when competing with smartphones, tablets, etc. which by the time could be as powerful or even more. Also that would mean that Nintendo would only have 1 device to support them, and if it fails, they could face serious problems.
The second option would also lead to a machine with the same software but fragmented, with some games developed to play with the controller and other to play with both devices. It would also be more expensive as it would have the cost of a home console as well as the cost of the handheld, something that would many people off at least during the first years. The advantages would be that the machine could be as powerful as Nintendo wants, that with a controller that also acts as a handheld Nintendo would still have two devices in the market so if one fails they could still use the other to maintain them, that would also put them in a better position against the competition (both the consoles and mobile devices).
Which direction, if they merge both devices, would they go with?
Please excuse my bad English.
Currently gaming on a PC with an i5-4670k@stock (for now), 16Gb RAM 1600 MHz and a GTX 1070
Steam / Live / NNID : jonxiquet Add me if you want, but I'm a single player gamer.
Nintendo do not like having the TV screen outside their control. They had to wait until HDTVs were common to adopt it; they had to add 3D and touch to a screen they controlled when really they'd like it on the main screen. It prevents them adding the hardware gimmicks they desire.
The Wii U console is so underpowered and de-emphasised in branding that it might as well be part of the U Pad (and tech will allow this in 1-2 years).
So yes I fully expect this.
