Forums - Sony - I just figured out Sony's plan for the Vita

Just think about it, Sony comesout with a brand, spanking new device.  It gets rave reviews, everyone who holds it loves it, sold for.....a resonable price considering its specs, but Sony refuses to support it.  Its biggest franchises haven't appeared, and the few that did are either already available for the PS3 or is Resistance: Burning Skies (I think that was its name).  I barely markets it, barely pushes it anywhere, and everyone can only wonder, why?

-I have the answer ladies and gentlemen.  Sony wanted this to happen.  Because it is making a loss on each one (and probably a pretty big one at that) Sony DOESN'T want it to sell right now.  It wasnts it to get established, to become that cult hit and just sit and grow and grow.  LEt word of mouth keep it afloat for the first couple of years.  Then, once prices come down and it becomes profitable BOOM.  Marketing, games, exclusives, you name it.  The first couple of years is just a experimental period.  Consider this a paid Beta.  People who get it now get to have some fun with it but as with any Beta it's kind of niche.  Then, once it goes full release, it becomes more mainstream.

Can anyone think of a better answer because if this isn't the case then Sony just kinda....Sorta......Botched this handheld and I'm not totally prepared to believe that.  I'm not a Playstation fanboy by any sense of the word (I do like Sony products though), I've never owned any PS ever, but Sony has some good management and I doubt they'll just let this die.  What do you think?

W00t first thread :p.

Sorry, Sony just wanted better for Vita and it is frankly not meeting their expectations. Your God didn't intend this, it just hapened.

Xbox: Best hardware, Game Pass best value, best BC, more 1st party genres and multiplayer titles.

you should add as last sentence: it makes perfect sense..

Thought they stated that the loss is minimal on each Vita sold.

First of all, congrats on your first thread :)

Secondly, none of this was planned, unfortunately. Sony would much rather the Vita was a runaway hit now. I'm hopeful sales will pick up, but I'm not confident. In fact, since buying it, I've become more pessimistic. It's just overpowered. And it's redundant.

I love my Vita. But I see why people aren't biting.

...wow.

hm..

I think the PS Vita is designed to play all the games you have on/in your PS4 everywhere you go and have controller/second screen abilities with games developed with those in mind.

They couldn't release it in the same year as the PS4 though. Even the most dedicated fans probably won't buy 2 of their gaming devices in one year.

you didn't bold the key word here  -  gaming

and apple obviously is better at selling people their stuff right now

Me and others that actually own one will keep saying its a fantastic device with plenty of great games on it. Of course, sony can do more but there's great games currently on it. I probably play my vita more than my ps3 now.

Sony just need to lower the price and advertise the thing more. There's still plenty of people out there that don't even know what a vita is. Get the thing into more consumer hands also. Many people that have played it have given very positive feedback on it. Consumers just don't see it as an attractive price at the moment.
