Okay, when I was a little boy and I had some video game systems like the Super Nintendo and the Sega Genesis, I remember this one kid I knew had a NeoGeo system with ridiculously expensive cartridges.   I remember the games for the system were like $180 for one cartridge.  I thought it was a cool powerful console, but I didn't hate on that console because I didn't have that console.

Fast forward to today's video games systems, and now you have this phenomenon where some people, if they have one of the systems like the 360 or PS3 or the Wii, but not the others, they hate that other system, even hating the other people who have the other systems.

So what gives?

Is it jealousy?

And how come people weren't like this in the time of the Super Nintendo and Sega Genesis consoles?

Not true at all. Fanboys are a part of this industry. I was a huge Nintendo fanboy back in the 80's. So my point is fanboys will always exist.

it comes out of the basis that "mine is always better" in a lot of the cases, a lot of people are like that, and there was no fanboys back when geneses VS SNES? really? lol

Goes way back, 150,000 years ago to a little thing called Dick wagging.

With the PS360 its fairly easy to trace where it started. After the PS3 launch the X fans started throwing mud at sonyfans accusing PS3 of not having any games, bad ports, they also created wii60 groups and ps3 songs etc. Sony fans retaliated with the 360 song, bringing up RROD and hd dvd. Chad Warden perfectly summed up what was wrong with the competition and concluded the fanboy wars lol.

It's the whole assurance that said person didn't go down the wrong path. Once you buy something, you suddenly get a whole new lean towards said product. Admitting it's bad is like admitting they did the wrong thing.

That and the whole "Genesis does what Nintendon't" type advertising only added fuel to the fire.

What the hell?

Were you AROUND at that time? The fanboyism in gaming magazines AND schoolyards was PHENOMENAL!

From what I've read/heard, the SNES/Genesis debates were more heated than anything we've had this gen - and the internet wasn't even around to broadcast those!

Fanboys... where can I start?

They always think they get the best thing in the world. Then they have to rub it in your face, of course. They are all like "Hah! I got the better 3rd party support than you!" Which is just rubbing the salt deeper into the wound. Then they go and talk about those new-fangled HD graphics and how they are totally better than my SD craphics. I'm just sitting there minding my own business, havin' some fun with my 1st party games (since I have no 3rd party titles) and they just have to start a war out of this!

I mean, what's up with that?! I've never accused the other console as being inferior! Never!
