Forums - Nintendo - GameFly lists Animal Crossing: New Leaf for Wii U

It’s tin foil hat time, folks! GameFly just listed Animal Crossing: New Leaf as a Wii U title, available here with a release date of TBD. Whether this  means Nintendo is actually planning a cross-platform release for the village simulation remains to be seen, but it wouldn’t be too far-fetched. When Animal Crossing: City Folk released on the Wii, people who played Animal Crossing: Wild World on their Nintendo DS could transfer their save files from the DS to the Wii to continue their town on the Wii version of the game.

Animal Crossing: New Leaf has been available in Japan as a 3DS title for several months with no release date in sight for North America or Europe. It’s been speculated that the 3DS game would release in Q2 2013, but that might be delayed if Nintendo is also working a Wii U version of the game for all three regions. Satoru Iwata was recently surprised at how well New Leaf was doing in Japan, so it’s not too far of a stretch to say that New Leaf could be a system seller for some people.

What about you? If this turns out to be true, will you be picking it up?

Why? Japan are all handheld lovers they wont buy that on the WiiU. Same goes for Monster Hunter.

I would buy it because it's Animal Crossing, but I would rather they wait until they can come up with a new title (at the least) for the Wii U version.

Japan is not a monolith or a hive mind. I think we forget that quite often on this site.

OT: I've long thought that Nintendo would release a home console Animal Crossing, but not this soon. But if it wants to capitalize on interactivity with a wildly popular portable title, why not?

This franchise started in a home console, didn't it? It should do fine and give a little boost to the Wii U sales.

I don't see it somehow; probably just a careless mistake. It happens all the time and more often than not turns to nothing.

And at any rate, I'd rather have a new game for the Wii U than a 3DS "rehash"...

Here lies the dearly departed Nintendomination Thread.

It's not real. It's clearly just a mistake, although I would have rather had a cross play Animal Crossing between Wii U and 3DS rather then Nintendo Land. (which is the EAD that develops Animal Crossing)
