Forums - General - The 50 Most Dangerous Cities In The World

I'm surprised that Chicago isn't on the list, it had over 500 homicides last year! I'm also surprised that Mexico City or Rio aren't on there, they are just as bad. But i can't believe how dangerous most cities in Mexico and Brazil are, good luck with the olympics in 2016!

You are probably safer in the war zones of Iraq and Afghanistan than most of the cities on that list!

Fights are settled  with the good old Mexican Stand off. Red Dead Redemption style.

Very true! I wonder how many reports we'll get in 2016 of murders at the Olympics. (Unless they change a lot in between now and then.)

Rio has had problems with gangs for many years now, i doubt they can sort it out in time. There problem is that gangs control the vast slums of the city, there is little the Brazilian government can do. It may seem crazy but i think America's (and other countries) war on drugs has a great impact on Latin American cities. As drugs are illegal, gangs can make great profits from it on the black market. This money empowers them and affords great influence in slummy areas of cities, as the locals have no real opportunities and so join gangs. Ending the war on drugs, would cut off most of the money for the gangs and so lower crime rates significantly in cities like Rio and Mexico city.

Mexican and Honduras cities must be pretty bad if they beat out New Orleans. New Orleans must have dropped since Katrina after the mass displacement of its citizens to areas such as Houston, Dallas, etc..

I'm not surprised Caracas is the city with the most murders, i live 4 hours from there and shit is crazy man :( - Venezuela's total murder count rose again from 18,000 in 2011 to 20,000 in 2012 this is i think the 5th consecutive year and most, not to say the 99% of the victims are innocents...

Yeah the situation in there it's really sad. One of the reasons why I had to move from there...

Note to self: Never visit Brazil or Mexico.

I don't know why I bother, but... The ammount of prejudice in this sentence is absurd. What kind of a research is that? And even if it is true, there are more than 5500 cities in Brazil, many of them peaceful as it can get. Well, maybe it is really better for us if whoever wrote this  decides not to ever come.

I feel the same kind of prejudice when people think my hometown in the middle east is nothing but gunfire and explosions. My apologies if I offended you.

You cut out the part where I said Cleveland isn't included. I was making fun of my current location before I even made a funny about Mexico.
