For gaming, yeah, easily. Disolitude was exaggerating the difference... I bet the only reason MS is going the DDR3 way, while almost every console ever released opted for non-standard designs of faster bandwidth, is because of OS and possible multimedia uses, not to mention the embedded RAM.
Also, I guess some other people here will insist to the last moment with their delusional beliefs aren't they... these little sad people.

I agree but I guesse you have some fresh info
.
GDDR5 was created by ATI for both worlds... graphcis and computer.
Anyway a good article talking about GDDR5 being used in next console / other general markets and not just graphcis... the article is old... 2008.

The tech was created by ATI and after 2006 by AMD for these purpose.
I don't care as long as next Xbox is more powerfull than ps4 I'm happy about it

AMD China
Honestly. I think both consoles will use GDDR5. Its a no brainer.
Yay!!!

I think you need a little more about the GDDR5 tech... it is not like GDDR4 or GDDR3... more for graphcis... GDDR5 was created for both worlds and more... graphcis and computer. |
I did my reaserach on GDDR5. GDDR5 = DDR3 where the memory bandwidth is pretty much doubled and clock speed is higher...however latency is a lot higher as well.
If GDDR5 was good for general computing, it would be used by motherboards. Its only good for graphics which have to spit out large quantities of data at once.
Like I said, GDDR5 as GPU memory in PS4 = amazing. GDDR5 as unified architecture shared by GPU and CPU = not amazing at all.
Ideally next gen consoles would have dedicated GDDR5 for video and dedicated DDR3 for CPU.
As much as it's interesting to read about the tech, I just want a guarantee that games developed for these new systems won't have ridiculous screen tearing and crashes.
I had to trade in XCOM and ME3 for the PS3 because they were unplayable :(
Anyway, sounds like the new ms and sony systems are going to have very similar hardware!
