Wow, we're already at #15?

My #15 is Metropolis, a science-fiction movie by German director Fritz Lang. Metropolis marks the zenith of German expressionism. More deeply introspective and cerebral than most romance and adventure movies of the time, Metropolis embraced a philosphy of non-realism. And the characters, sets, and special effects reflect that philosophy. In fact, Metropolis has arguably the best production design of any movie ever made.

14: Black Swan

I still dont know why it didnt get the oscar for movie of the year 2010

Tsubasa Ozora

Keiner kann ihn bremsen, keiner macht ihm was vor. Immer der richtige Schuss, immer zur richtigen Zeit. Superfussball, Fairer Fussball. Er ist unser Torschützenkönig und Held.

I tried to watch Metropolis 15 years ago or so, couldn't get into it. There is a newly restored version now, expensive though. I do have the 2001 manga version which was pretty good. I don't know how many similarities there are but at least the concept is the same.

15. Inception, 2010, Christopher Nolan

Great movie about the life and power of an idea. It makes me think of the evolution of the mind. Our physical evolution may be stumped but the evolution of ideas has taking over at a blinding rate. The movie is focussed on how a single thought can influence someone's behaviour. It combines that with the power of dreams, and turns it into a layered matrix experience.
Next to that Inception is simply outstanding as a cleverly constructed action movie, a heist movie of the mind. I love the use of CGI in this, not to make things look as realistic as possible but to play with reality. Outstanding movie.

The 2001 animated Metropolis is a really good movie too.

There are so many versions of Metropolis -- they keep finding new footage -- but you can't really go wrong with any of them. The 2002 restored print is especially good. I was lucky enough to see that in the theater.

That's it going to post it now.

Posted my 15th pick Zodiac which I actually replaced in the last minute originally I was going with American History X but I re-watched both movies and though Zodiac was a better movie. My next movie features on of Barry Peppers best supporting roles as a sniper.

Just kidding, Saving Private Ryan.
