I don't think the whole creating one language and every single person in the world learns it as a second language is going to work out very well and the reason is your post specifically. English is in fact probably the language that is closest to what you are looking for because many countries teach it a a second "international" language, but people complain and don't want to have to learn new languages as it is a huge undertaking, especially if the ENTIRE world had to do it.

Eventually I believe that there will be technology that will just directly let us transfer one's thought to another through whatever medium (or language) of they preference. Whether that will be in our lifetimes or not is the bigger question. At least we can hope for Google translate to get better in our lifetimes :)

surely there are french websites or german or whatever language you speak,there must be plenty of spanish speaking sites,this was a UK website with most US,UK,canada,aus etc users

plenty of room for other languages on the web,MONEY & ENGLISH go together in truth,french & spanish just lost out although they forced their language just as much as england,The USA sealed the deal for obvious reasons,maybe things will change with china,india,brasil & russia in the future as they assert their financials around the globe

yes there will probably be some app/phone type thing that will just translate everything soon anyway,you speak into it and out comes the other language like sticking a babel fish in your ear

Actually, English is a German Dialect. 

I think most people speak at least two or three languages. Although it would be better if everyone knew English, French, German, Spanish, Arab, and Mandarin as core staple languages.

Ever heard of Esperanto? Yeah, that never really happened.

There's plenty of games forums in other languages, but English is one of the easiest to learn and one which is known Worldwide, so it's only natural to be the one to go for.

I think American English is the easiest to understand and probably the best form to adopt, like what is spoken on Seinfeld and most TV shows, rather than the weird hardly-intelligible derivative a lot of tourists use.

We need a universal translator like the one from Star Trek
