Lol, so many haters.

WiiU's launch and sales look 'bad' compared to Wii, while in reality, Wii was a phenomenon unlike any before it, and probably unlike any we'll ever see again. Nothing's going to match that craziness. Compared to pretty much most other launches before it, WiiU's doing very, very well.

If anyone thinks WiiU's launch and early sales are disappointing, they'll be in for a pretty bad shock when PS4 and the next Xbox release. xD

Nope you're wrong the PS2 was the best system launch. Better than the Wii.

Really? I remember the PS2 launch was quite lackluster... there was some game with fireworks or something and... well that was pretty much it.

ps2 was sold out for months in us and europe, samething for the wii, its called not having enough supply to meet demand. the fact that gamecube and the first xbox which was a new comer with no brand name  sold 1.4 million units in november and december should tell the ps2 would have destroyed those numers if it was in stock.

My statement is not flawed anywhere; what I was trying to say is that the ads don't show this new kind of controler in such a way that the public gets interested. And anyways, people are used to touch screens, making the Wii U less... novel than the Wii

People aren't used to touch screens in the way Nintendo is trying to use them.

I mentioned that you were right about the Advertising part. You don't have to sell me on that anymore!

That's true, and then we're back with the ads which fail to really show what can be done that smartphones and tablets can't do... But it's not like the public is like "what's this? a screen on the controler? And I can touch it and things will happen? what witchcraft is this?!" It's not as exciting as motion controls when they first came out.

I'm on Twitter @DanneSandin!

Furthermore, I think VGChartz should add a "Like"-button.

And I bet a lot of people still don´t know the Wii U is...a new system, not just some add-on.

Masses are not interested, the sharp drop on sales numbers shows that. Nintendo fans rush to buy the new console and soon... *crickets*

Blimey, not another one lol. It's selling fine, around 80% of the Wii's sales is quite an achievement. I really don't know where people are getting the idea that it's selling badly from. It's not doing great in Europe but that's generally a Sony territory anyway. Seriously, these threads need to stop.

With the adjustments it fell quite a bit below 80% to 73%.  Also the most recent week saw only 44% of what the Wii did its first week of 2007, and there's not much that would suggest that figure improving soon.

As I've said for months prior to release:

- For Core - it's not powerful enough or different enough from PS3/360 to warrent a purchase.

- For mass market the return to the dual analog controller is a huge step backwards, underpowered, single touch tablet interface notwithstanding. Wii's genius was getting rid of that overly complex and cumbersome controller. Kinect took it further and Tablets continue the button/stick-free revolution for the masses. It will be like a ball and chain around the WiiU's life. The sooner they abandon the gamepad, the better.

I think we're selling a new trend in main stream gaming units, 3ds vita and wii u have all struggled upon launch, 3ds escaped this with a price drop soon after. What also hasn't help is naming/advertising , I honestly don't think I've seen any commercial for the wii u, it also doesn't help when stores have the wii u games mixed in with the wii games, nothing labeling them apart.

I don't see a price drop fixing a fundimental problem with that WiiU that there really isn't a compelling reason for a casual gamer to replace their Wii with one.  ESPECIALLY after they got them into gaming with wiimote.

People keep saying it's the marketing, it's not that, you have to have something interesting to market before there is good marketing, and right now the Wii U has nothing.

Wii U marketing? What marketing?
