I fucked up my last thread. This is the good one =)

Well, during the last 5 VG gens we've seen a trend. Each console generation sold more than the previous one. The fact that this generation has outsold the last one by almost 40M is incredibly. Especially taknig into account the fact that last gen had PS2 (more than 150M PS2 were sold). This is due mainly because of the fact that this generation had 3 consoles that sold more than 80 M consoles each!!!! They could even sell more than 80 M.

The trend looks like this:

Generation SONY NINTENDO SEGA MICROS TOTAL
NES, Master System   61.91 9.7   71.61
SNES, Genesis   49.1 36.5   85.6
PS, N64, Sat 104.25 32.93 8.82   146
PS2, GC, XB, DC 153.68 21.74 8.2 24.65 208.27
PS3, Wii, 360 72.41 98.79   74.25 245.45

*Numbers taken from VGC. Master System + Genesis were calculated from various sources. The numbers are probably off. I didn't had data for other consoles (e.g. Jaguar).

Where will this generation number settle? It should pass at least 250 M. Maybe 260?

Will next-gen have better sales than this one????

Prediction is for end of 2014 when the all new systems should have been released for a bit.

Nintendo - ~105 million
Sony - ~80 million
Microsoft - ~80 million

So, ~265 million

I see 200 Million (or so) happening.

Wii U ~ 75 Million
NexBox ~ 70 Million
PS4 - 60 Million.
But we know basically nothing about the last two so...

EDIT: Nevermind. I read your OP wrong.

I took this gen meaning the up coming gen with the Wii U... did you mean Wii Ps3 and 360 gen?

Sony will support forever the ps3....
So here
Wii=103mil
X360=85mil (this year and the following will sell a good amount)
PS3=93mil= (support into 2018 no lie)
Total=281mil!!!!

I'd say a small drop in the overall number, with the economy and a shift towards tablets and phones. I'd have to agree with NintendoPie's 200 million.

As for per console, I predict the Xbox in 1st with 75 mil, PS4 with 70mil and WiiU with 65mil life time.

Well I misread the title. Might wanna change it

Yeah, a little confusion. The thread is about this ending gen. Although I would like to know if nect-gen is going to ousell this one, Sorry for that!

Ok then, this gen is far from done selling in my opinion. Maybe another 25mil in the next 6 to 7 years. As for next gen I expect the Wii U to sell less than the Ps3 this gen and that less people buy multiple consoles. So I expect a huge decrease in sales.

So, you think the trend is going to stop? I don't think so. There are new markets in developing countries. China, Brazil, India, Mexico, Rest of Latin-America, Some Asian countrien and East-europe are gonna buy more consoles next-gen. I see nextbox and PS4 doing near to 100 M. WiiU could do anything. I don't have a clear prediction for that consoles, but maybe 90 M.

As for this one, it has already sold huge numbers, and I think it's gonna see a fast and big decrease in sales. Maybe 15 more M.
