So Ps2 is not on NPD anymore either? Does that mean the DS sold close to 550,000 more units than the PS2 in US this last month?

PS2 hasn't been on NPD reports for ages. Though it did still good numbers every month.

Funny. If the 225k number was posted first people would be saying DOOM. Now it's "not too bad".

PS3 625k wat

its the difference in getting a D or F in school.  with a D you know you can do better you just have to put a little more effort to get to average.  With an F, your at the guidence office finding a way to drop the class.

OK, but is its 2013 substantially better on games than 2012? I don't really see a mechanism for that improvement. Sony is refusing to drop the price no matter the sales.

Sony mentioned last year that a price cut for the vita was in the offing, so unless they changed their minds, I am assuming it still coming.  Software wise, we are still in a non annoucement season, we should see more game annoucements as sony has their destination day at the end of february, the gdc and e3.  The titles for the first quarter are pretty much set for japan and a couple titles slated for the west

An exec already let it slip they will have a price cut next year. I believe it's just the timing isn't right yet. They most probably want to have some good financials before going infor a price cut.

January 2013 is a five week month (leap year for NPD), so Wii U will probably be around 300k in January.

2013 is going to be another shitty year for HW, like 2012 (only 18.5m units of hw sold this year, down from 34-35m in 2008-2009).

I think 2013 will go like this, but it would at least be up a bit on 2012:

Wii U - 4.5m (I figure price cut in October, 200k a month for 9 months, 500k Oct, 1m Nov, 1.2m Dec)

3DS - 4.5m (250k for 10 months, 700k Nov, 1.3m Dec)

X360 - 3.5m (200k for 10 months, 500k Nov, 1m Dec, hurt by 720 launch)

PS3 - 2.5m (170k for 10 months, 300k Nov, 500k Dec)

Vita - 1.5m (100k for 10 months, 200k Nov, 300k Dec)

PS4 - 1.0m (400k / 600k)

Wii - 1.0m (65k for 10 months, 150k in Nov, 200k Dec)

X720 - 1.0m (500k / 500k)

DS - 0.5m (30k for 10 months, 100k in Nov, 100k Dec)

I say he's trying to figure out how to break some of the horrid software numbers without someone trying to murdering him for talking bad about a game they liked.

Former something....

You guys are missing the best news...they mentioned "Journey and minecraft broke records for number of games downloaded" soo 5 million units confirmed for Journey?? ;)

Looks like PS3 is on track to end up about 18m below PS2 in the US based on the figures for this year, it should get to 27 or 28m in the US if it keeps declining 20-30% a year.
