Well it's supposed to be a flagship title, at least among the hardcore fans. Probably not really mass appealing, but since the Nintendo logo is on the box, it should clear at least 1m.

I've gone into more detail on other threads, but basically that Nintendo shouldn't be bothering with these small franchises until they have all of the 10m+ selling games out on a system, and put all of their effort and production values into those games and not into the ones it /wants/ to make like Pikmin. This also excludes 3D Zelda by the way, they should stop treating it as a flagship game when it doesn't earn like one.

I think it will do good numbers. The first 2 games were good and there is a lure about the game for a lot of people. Added to that, Wii U owners have and will continue to have a limited selection of titles for a while. I'd buy it if I owned a Wii U :D

Yes. It's a good test of whether my ideas about Nintendo are right or not. Certainly if it sells 2m+ I'll have to rethink why games sell.

Wait a minute, we need some concrete terms so we don't have to wait forever for it to sell 1 million.

What do you think? If it sells 6-700k in one year, it'll probably reach one million eventually. If it only does 200k, then it probably won't. What should the cutoff point be?

I'd hope we could agree on it honourably when the time comes, which would be fairer than an arbitrary cutoff. I will concede when the steady-state trend plus current sales looks like it would pass the target.
