So with a game finally releasing this year on the wii u after 8 years! How will Pikmin 3 do?
Will it surpass the original or sell less than the second installment? Here is the WW sales

☆Pikmin ⇒ 1.63mil
☆Pikmin 2⇒ 1.20mil

This game will feature 4 captains, new pikmin, and a whole exciting adventure, My most Anticipated game this year on Wii U!

Bomb. It will commit acts of terrorism.

For a Pikmin game it'll succeed.

But I like Hatmoza's answer better.

Hard to tell, on the one hand Pikmin was outside of the spotlight for almost a decade (with the exception of SSBB and NintendoLand of course) and will release on a brand new console with maybe ~4-5Mil at its release, but on the other hand Pikmin in NintendoLand was the best advertisment for Pikmin 3 you could imagine. I'll guess 2Mil LT, maybe 3Mil.

I think it will sell 1 million.

Also, i thought we had this discussion already? The definition of bomb/flop is when the game fails to make a profit. I dont know how much it cost but i guess it will take less than a million to break even.

The thing pikmin 3 has going for it is that the original pikmin had far more competition in terms of nintendo games then pikmin 3 will. That said its still been an awfully long time since pikmin 2 which was a relativelly modest selling game anyway. I'll say it will manage 1mil. Though the currently announced Wii U lineup fo 2013 is so depressing, that I think it has a shot of becoming the big 2013 holiday game for the wii u and end up with 2mil+ sales.

I predicted 1.5 mil but it could do more just because of the limited selection of software.

Less selection=less competition.
