One thing I noticed about last tourney is that all the winners of the previous brackets was in the same bracket in round 2. Should it really be like that?

its kind of complicated! Look at it like this... 1st round over now to 2 brackets! There are top 4 in 3 brackets! making 12 racers! 8 people will move on! its three 1st place winners from round 1 mix with three 4th place winners. Chances are those 1st places will move to the finals and 1 from the 4th place! Thats why i mixed 2nd and 3rd places! Also to note if we have enough racers! It might be top 6 in the 2nd round, so that means [1st,6th][2nd,5th][3rd,4th] will be locked together! Get it ??? its like sports!!!

Well that is kinda complicated but it just seems that the winners' bracket might as well be the finals. I would have split it like how I advised to split the KI tourney. But I never managed tournament fixtures before so...

Well in sports they usually try for first place holders of the 1st round to meet up until as late as possible in the tournament.  But instead here you placed them all to face each other in Round 2. Maybe you should have split up round 2 like this? (from previous results)

▲ Bracket 1 ▲
1.Dand (bracket5)
2.Radishhead (bracket 6)
3.Tbone51 (bracket 5)
4.DieAppleDie (bracket 6
5.Peterisyum

◆ Bracket 2 ◆
1.Gcyber (bracket6)
2.The1 (bracket 5)
3.Cody  (bracket6)
4.Vas Y (bracket 5)
5.Ktay95
6.TheKingofRedLions

● Bracket 3 ●
1.Rolstoppable (bracket 5)
2.Conegamer (bracker 6)
3.Yoshiya  (bracket 5)
4.CityofNoobs (bracket 6)
5.Redlinker
6.Benji232
7.Zero129

So if there was a bracket 7 in round 2(meaning a bracket 4 in round 1),  Rol would be placed in that bracket.

In other words you should avoid strong competitors to meet up until the finale.

Even though wat u said makes perfect sense, it'll go much fster without anybody waitin long if they knew where to go immediately then waitin on me pointing them each individually which takes time! If it were locally then i do it your way in a heart beat! Hopefully future games make it easier to do this stuff!!!! Thanks though, i do consider everybody's opinion! Dont 4get that all 1st place racers have a huge advantage making a top 4 (or 6) in the second round!

One thing I noticed about last tourney is that all the winners of the previous brackets was in the same bracket in round 2. Should it really be like that?

I suggested this, because there's no mathematical fair solution in a tournament with three brackets. You can't divide the winners of three brackets evenly among two brackets and the same goes for #2, #3 and #4. Originally, tbone51 had suggested to run three brackets and have only the top 3 proceed, but nine players is such an awkward number in a game with rooms for up to eight players. Top 5 would have meant 15 players proceed, but that would have resulted in two unbalanced round 2 brackets. So it was top 4.

The tournament mode we had was basically the fairest thing that could be arranged, because it should always be as fair as possible for everyone involved. The three winners going into the same round 2 bracket meant that the best players faced each other, but that was offset by having them play against the weakest set of all remaining players. With the top 4 proceeding to round 3, there wasn't really a big chance that the winners of the initial three brackets would get screwed over. On the flipside, the players who finished in #4 in the initial brackets were put up against the best players, but to their benefit, at least one of them was guaranteed to go to the final. So even in the case that they got crushed in round 2, one of them could still make it. But only the best one of them. Bracket 6 consisted of all the middle of the pack players of the initial brackets, so their GP could be expected to be much more competitive than the one of bracket 5. They got none of the weakest players to make things easier for them, but on the flipside, they also didn't have to deal with any of the strongest players.

Should tbone51 manage to get enough players for four initial brackets, then the tournament mode will change. With four of each kind (#1, #2, #3, #4) proceeding in round 1, each of the two round 2 brackets will have two of each kind.

if we have 21-24 racers i'll do 3 brackets of 7 or 8 racers (being 1st round and having 22 or 23 racers mean brackets will have one more than the other) and have a top 6! Then with 18 racers in round 2 divid it up into 3 brackets with [1,6][2,5][3,4] and the Top 4 will make having 12 racers! Then divide and have 6 racers into round 3 with [1,4][2,3]! Top 4 in each and final round will have 8racers! If there are 25+ there will have to be 4 brackets no matter what! As of this post i have 20 racers with maybe 2 of them with 50/50 chance of coming and 5 others givin me a decision later this week!

Even though you both finished in #2 in your initial bracket, Conegamer's round 2 bracket seems to be much easier on paper.

I wont say 'much' easier. There will always be some wierdness in round 2 with 3 brackets in round 1

But I think its worth it if it  means not having a 'Final' in round 2.

Yeah... no. That's a mess. You need to work towards numbers that suit Mario Kart 7. 18 people, that's an awful number.

It would make much more sense to go with four initial brackets, even if the total number of players has yet to exceed 24. If you have 20+ people, you divide them as evenly as possible across four brackets. It's more of a qualification round and the top 4 of each bracket proceed. In a tournament with 20 players that would mean that you only eliminate one player in each initial bracket. You end up with 16 people going to round 2. Isn't 16 a glorious number? You then split them up evenly: Two #1, two #2, two #3 and two #4 go in each of the two round 2 brackets. The top 4 of each bracket proceed to the final round. Simple and straightforward.

damn, to be honest i didn't want to elimate alot of people! But if 20-24 mean 5 or 6 racers a bracket then have top 4 sounds good! Cuz of the 16 mark making 8 and 8 racers then the final 8! If we get a high 28+ (i dont kno yet since i said people are deciding wheter to come) then i might do an extra round! Ex: 28-30 racers 7 or 8 per bracket (of 4) top 6 will make it leaving 24 then 16 then 8 racers!

I wish we can have a point system!!! So no eliminations like how kiu had, then a final!!!

The only reason why this could feel like a final in round 2 is because it just so happened that the three best players each started in a different bracket. I don't know if this was done intentionally by tbone51 or if it was just coincidence. If, for example, the two of us started in the same bracket, we wouldn't have been in the same bracket in round 2. I really had no idea how good everyone is going to be, so I didn't expect that the winners of the initial brackets were going to be the best three players overall. I knew you are really good, but Dand I knew nothing about.

The goal of the tournament mode we used was to get the eight best players of that day into the final round. I think we succeeded at that, because the one #4 player of the initial bracket that made it into the final beat one #2 and one #3 player.

Speaking of initial brackets, perhaps tbone51 should use something like random.org to avoid any possible bias in the initial distribution of players.

Well having all 1st placers battling each other in the 2nd round is really strange for a tournament and I think should really be avoided. Maybe I should research 3 bracket tournaments and see how its done :/
