For an additional price.

Gamepad is a traditional controller with a touchscreen no?

Not really. Look at its size and horrible battery life. That touchscreen is extremely distracting to the user and if it isnt' being used in a game, then it is unnecessary. But I'm not complaining though. I know Wii U isn't for me and I have my PS3 for traditional controls.(and PS4 in the future)

Eh... with regards to the "additional price," Wii U + Pro Controller will probably still cost less than a PS4.

Basic model + pro controller = $350, deluxe model + pro controller = $400.

It will cost less because its older tech plain and simple. Nintendo will be purchased by the Nintendo core and others for its novelty. The PS4 and 720 will be butting heads over core game supremacy, regardless of how good or bad Nintendo does.

No part of that has anything to do with what we were discussing.

The WiiU is destined to fail, last gen technology trying to fool people into thinking it's new gen technology. PS4/720 wont even look over its shoulders as it leaves the WiiU in the dust.

Far from it actually. If the PS4 and 720 only offer technological advancements and an above 399.99$ price point, then it will underperform. Wii U has smartly positioned itself to be a sustainable business model where rising costs is not an issue as oppose to PS4 and 720 where, judging by reports, could cost developers double than what current gen is.

Seems like it's going the gamecube way. Yet to see how it fares in the coming months.

This is what I am saying. Based upon Nintendos launch movement and base the Wii U serves it will probably sell a little bit over Gamecube status. It seems Nintendo abandoned the casual market they created so they could be taken seriously.

I doubt that will even begin to be a bother to the big developers, given how this gen is already polarized between blockbusters and failures, and the smaller ones probably will go towards iOS and Android, as they are now, instead of the Wii U.

Of course that could lead to stagnation and probably a market crash a few years from now but wishful thinking isn't going to change that. I'm going to enjoy what comes my way while it lasts.

I don't think they've abandonned that market. TV ads never show ZombiU, AC3, BLOPS2 and such : it's either families playing NintendoLand or some couple on NSMBU. They merely put a veil of core gaming onto that with NG3RE, ZombiU, Bayonetta 2 and the ports so as to lure gamers back. But of course, people saw just right through that and this strategy is a failure.

Yes it does. You mentioned that Wii U +  pro controller will probably cost less than a PS4, the user above is explaining that the only reason for that is because of the older tech. Anyway none of us are psychic, so lets save this discussion until we got PS4 specs and price.

It is doomed. it might get lucky and sell well enough to make Nintendo some money (as usual).

However, it is doomed to not get the good multiplats. It's not getting even most PS360 ports, it wont get PS4/Xbox3 games.

Nintendo consoles might survive well, but Sony and MS get the best games.
