Forums - Sales - 13 week Wii U shipment target countdown

Will Nintendo achieve their shipment goal

Yes 36 50.70%

No 29 40.85%

Results 6 8.45%

I expected slightly better Dec numbers but the Wii U has a much stronger line up for the next quarter than the previous generation did. We will see a drop off but rayman and lego might be enough to get to the 4.5M sales figure. I can't see Nintendo missing their shipped number without a huge fight.

GameCube sold 3.8 million through its first March (2002) just for reference. Not sure what the shipment amount was I think back then Nintendo only used sold numbers.

I expect Nintendo to be profitable this fiscal year as a whole due to profitable 3ds and lower yen.

Predictions for LT console sales:

PS4: 120M

XB1: 70M

WiiU: 14M

3DS: 60M

Vita: 13M

The thing is the Wii really didn't need anything else, Wii Sports was the biggest thing to happen to gaming in a while, so the system was basically flying off storeshelves all through 2007 on that factor alone.

I'm not really sure Rayman will cause a spike in sales. Maybe Lego City, but I'm a bit doubtful on that too.

Nintendo needs like a Mario Kart/Smash Bros/Zelda/3D Mario/DKC sized franchise for the 1st half of the year, but I don't think they have one coming in time.

IMHO Nintendo won't be able to achieve their shipment goal for the Wii U simply because they didn't price it properly. In fact it is just unbelievable that after the 3DS price cut fiasco they priced the Wii U so high. They are counting that the game pad alone is worth $100 in people's mind, but honestly I just don't see that being the case.
They will need a price cut very soon, again... Being a fan of such a stubborn company sometimes can be really frustrating....

If next week drop below the w. average, then we have a problem, which is most likely.

It won't. Next week Wii U should increase by atleast 20% in Japan with New Year holiday sales! :) Thank god for Japan and their Nintendo love

That's good news! Now we have to wait for MC.

That's what I was wondering. Hasn't been updated in forever.

They will obviously fall drastically short of expectations, but the yen is at a better place then they thought it would be.
