3DS very good.
PS360 and DS good considering their age. It was expected they would be down from last year.
Wii mediocre.
PSP bad.
Vita very bad.

WiiU is okay. It's doing a lot better than PS360's launch, but less than Wii. Which is expected anyway. Europe numbers are disappointing, but unless it's a Sony console (even then it's only good the first one or two weeks), Europe's adoption rate for new consoles is always slow. 3DS was no different, and now it's selling similarly to US and JP (outside the holidays anyway, JP this week is sick).

might have to do something with PS3 and PS Vita releasing in march/february and not in nov/dec

Could be.

Doesn't change the fact that Europe's always a slow adopter. PS2 was released in the same window as the WiiU, too bad Europe numbers don't go back that far for a comparison .

Well Europe has mostly been a bit slow with adapting to new consoles except with the playstation branding. and even that has slowed down a lot since PS3 days and even more with Vita. The WiiU is nowhere near from supply constraint, you can find them anywhere in both versions and some stores even give discounts already. But i don't think that means the console will flop, it's just that the competition offers the better deals at the moments with much more affordable hardware and more and bigger software. Plus Nintendo did a crappy job with the Wii Brand for the last 2 years, no games, no advertisment, people forget fast if you don't keep your product attractive! The Wii U ads are not good either, i still constantly meet people who think its just an add-on for the Wii and not a new console! They really have to work on that! But when the price comes down a little and more games are available, i think they will be fine. Below the golden Wii levels, but just fine!

Most sensible thing ive read this thread, dont know why some are adamant about this whole supply constraint thing. Europe just aint biting right now, its not a big deal. ANd LOL to Pikmin, thats not going to do much, that is not a system mover. neither is LCS or Wonderful 101, the only game that i could see helping Wii U in Europe is Rayman since they seem to love it over there. But even then, that is a wild card as that game is rumored to be a timed exclusive

I have to admit I'm really pleased and surprised with PS3 performance. I think most of our regular 360 supporters didn't expect such an outcome. The lead of PS3 was supposed to vanish during holiday period.

I think most people expected the 360 to have a global price cut too.  The only region it did get a price cut (albeit temporary) it easily outsold the PS3.  Sony and Microsoft both made mistakes, Sony should have released the 12GB in the US and Europe should have been given a proper price cut by Microsoft.  I think the inevitable 360 price cut next year will mean the PS3 will have to wait till 2014 before it can overtake, it needed to do better over the holidays to overtake in 2013 imo.

It does seem interesting that launch aligned the PS3 is declining quicker now.  Its been a strange generation.

Wii U in Europe needs a price drop, it's just way too expensive compared to Japan and the US.

I describe myself as a little dose of toxic masculinity.

Yep, best thing is right now every fan can find something which makes him satisfied with favourite system performance

Its amazing how Nintendo gets such sales when theres virtually no big game released for 3 of its 4 consoles

Once again, you Nintendo haters need to really hide your true colors better.

3DS still beasting, as expected, and Wii U will pick up in sales. Man, the Vita should do much better than that. The gap between X360 and PS3 is great for Sony, but doubt they care, given the crisis they are in. Overall, worse than last year, but the fact that handheld gaming is still kicking is great news for the video game industry. Surprised the DS is still selling great, but there were plenty of sales for it and the 3DS at my local Target.

You really shouldn't make such statements when you really don't have anything to base them on. Wii U sales MIGHT pick up, they might not.

Nintendo knows what they are doing. They won't just screw up for their next home console. Not even two months in, and everyone is making judgements. Just compare the Xbox360, PS3, and Wii U launch.

Estelle and Adol... best characters ever! XD

Its been a great time for gamers to have a fair choice this generation.  I think competition has really forced the big 3 to try significantly harder.
