Forums - Sony - Sony ‘Employee’ Review: ‘I Don’t Have A Lot Of Confidence That Orbis Will Sell Well’

Everyone's doomed except Microsoft, nowadays.

Or are they doomed too?

Not unless Macs suddenly become more popular, and PCs decline. I don't really see that happening any time in the next 10 years though.

That's actually trending right now.

Tablet PCs, the majority of which is controlled by Apple in terms of revenue being generated through software sales, are currently eating into the traditional PC space, which accounts for the decline in Windows based PC sales over the last fiscal year. This is not a trend that will be reversing. The release of Windows 8 and subsequent sales still resulted in a drop in sales.

Plenty of sales reports and articles confirming this.

Honestly I find this review to be fairly credible, and I am perhaps the only person in this thread who is going to offer up a unbiased point of view. Some of you believe it, or at least the gist of what is being said, because it conforms to your own beliefs. Some of you discount it as pure bullshit, because the reviewer is saying something you don't want to hear. Both sides are assuredly wrong in their approach. When trying to judge whether something is genuine. You first need to determine if it is in fact plausible.

I cut out most of the quote, but I agree and have more to add. I posted earilier that I sat down and read the other reviews and there where a few that could of been said where written by Sony fan boys to increase the company's score which is damaging in both ways to the site and the people who are trying to use it to look for a company they want to work with. But that is getting off topic, and most of the fanboys posts are easily reconizable they either give the company five stars and say a one short sentence in each field of how "awesome" it is to work there and nothing else I threw out my consideration of the review, the same with the lower scoring reviews.

Those that where left almost all said the same thing, that the senior management has no clue, there is almost no communication between teams and teams try to rule over one another and try not to help them get ahead. There are too many lifers looking at the past and not willing to adapt to the present or the future. And all of these points where brought out in a industry interview with one of Sony's top engineers when Kaz took over, in what he had to face and change as the next man in charge.

As for the PS4/Orbis stuff I would take it with a grain of salt. Comparing it to what the Wii U went through what he might of been showen was early concepts with the mission statement of we want to try to capture more of the casual market. And things may of changed.  There where other reviews one of them posted early in in thread that one of things the senior management should do is stop going after the casual and focus on the core which is "Sony's Market". Which credience is lent to this when considering some of Sony's major announcments at the last E3, they were trying to go after the casual and largly ignored the Vita which probally would of benefited by more exposure by the company.

obviously fake, and he's an idiot.

These are just some observations that everyone has known forever, along with a few predictions thrown in.

I'm surprised at how gullible some of you are.

You need to certify your employment status before you can post on Glassdoor.

Could he be just pissed off and ranting because he was fired?  Sure, that'd be my guess... he doesn't like Orbis anymore because he isn't working on it..  '

Is it fake... highly unlikely.

Fake reviews on Glassdoor exist, but they're the overly positive ones.   HR people use their credentials to post on the website and leave nothing but positive reviews.

As for NDA's.   You can't hit someone with an NDA suit if you can't identify them.

we are always doomed, aren't we?

This is the extent of their certification process:

"The Glassdoor team reviews every piece of content submitted by users, so please be patient. Contributions with the 'Pending' status are being reviewed, and will appear on the site once they are approved.

Note: Reviews older than 30 days may not be edited."

No it isn't.  That's the third step of their certificaiton.

"Since we're unable to fully verify the identity of an anonymous user, we require each user to certify their employee relationship to the company when they post any content. We also require all users to validate their email address before their posts are made available to the community. This verification process allows us to put measures in place to identify suspicious users and/or posts. And all of these, combined with active community moderation and our commitment to review every post, allow us to have confidence in our information."

asking a user to certify relationship goes no deeper than checking a box, and validating email goes no further than a typical verification email.

There is no certification, it's anonymous. Can't you read? lmfao.

"I certify that I worked at Sony" *checkbox

That's probably the extent of it.

There are plenty of ways you can certify former employment without giving away a name.

I'd love to hear them. More important, I'd love to hear what the website does.
