They have absolutely NO chance in JP, seeing that even the Vita is struggling there. But they don't need Japan to do well, so it doesn't matters anyway. |
a 200% increase in Europe isnt outstanding? far better?
OK.
OT
No chance in japan, there are other things at play there. But Japan is less important this gen and will be even more so next gen. Doesnt mater, They have competed amazingly well considering they only sell in two of the 3 main markets. I doubt any console ahas ever achieved that.

When you had pretty much 0 presence, and that grows by 200%... yeah, its not that big of a deal In the US and UK it made mirtacles tough, and even in Japan it managed to have a decent growth :))

Compared to the stranglehold sony had on Europe last gen, this is certianly nothing short of spectacular European sales. Yes part of the sales increase is due to the gaming market growing. But the market didn't grow 4 times over. A big increase came from the 360 and wii directly taking away around 1/3 of sony's previous consumer base. And while sony managed to secure their position by the end of the gen, this gen clearly showed that Europe, sony's most dominante market, is by no means a safe bet anymore. Infact in terms of marketshare compared to last gen, sony dropped much less in America than Europe.
In Japan it went from next to nothing to next to nothing. In europe it went from very little to meaningful marketshare,
