Well it's all about a matter of taste. To me, 3DS is slowly becoming one of my favorite (if not my favorite) Nintendo handheld system. I own 11 retail games and lots of eShop games. The more games I play, the more I love it. The first Q1 is looking godly to me with 5 games I want to purchase (Fire Emblem, Monster Hunter, Etrain Odyssey, Luigi's Mansion, and Castlevania). That alone is more than 200+ hours without DLC.

I also plan on getting a Wii U in January.

So you bought a console at launch and got burned, then when games you care about started coming out for it you sold it so you could buy a different console at launch? Hope that works out for you.

So, you don't own any current generation consoles? If not, you should be pleased with the Wii U and all that it offers. That is before you included all the games it will get next year and the games you may have missed out on this year.

Doesn't current gen include the Wii?

I'm in the same boat as you, I'm really disappointed with the 3DS. All it has is Icarus, Revelations, and a whole bunch of mediocre, rushed, Mario games. It's my first handheld (I've never been interested, almost bought the Advance, but held off.) and it's a huge disappointment. Wii U is a great system so far. Frankly the Wii U's library, while small, is about on par with the 3DS entire library. The 3DS is just not that good of a system. I'll give it until E3, but if I don't see some games that aren't Mario, I'm ditching it.

Anyway, when you get the Wii U, I would love to be your friend.

Of course, it's current Gen.  I'm new to this site, so I don't know what he owns and that's why I asked, what I asked. He could have only owned a 3DS and prior to that a DS. He may have owned a Wii, but he may have not own a 360, PS3 to play all the games that, the WIi U launch with. I didn't want to assume, so I asked instead.
