foof - The main issue is with Activision trying to pump out CoD sequal after CoD sequal. They've hired Tetryarch (COD3) to make it, and not Infinity Ward (COD 1, COD2 for PC/X360, COD4).

Activision is just moneyhatting COD, and we're going to suffer.

Not a suprise that COD4 finally beat Halo 3 out. ioi desperately needs to update COD4 numbers.

Is there a reason that infinity ward is not at the helm?  Do they get 1 year vacation between games?  I know if it goes back to WW2 I won't be buying regardless of quality.

no.. the reason is because for most devs it is impossible to get a game out in one years time. Activision like ubisoft, likes to have every other sequel done by a different team. So COD1 and 2 were by IW, but 3 came out a year later by treyarch, meanwhile cod4 was being made by IW and came out another year later, meanwhile, treyarch has been making cod5.

Same thing for splintercell, graw, rainbow six, etc.

Note: Some games in my collection are no longer owned, but have owned.

I am playing Gears of wars every night, If somebody wants to join... welcome.

Halo 3 multiplayer died for me when they announced the cost of the new maps... I havn't played since

I will not support (aka purchase) any DLC that rips off gamers.

Yea, this is why I like UT3 for the PS3.

Rock on CoD4! It's my GotY pick, so it's good to see I am not alone :)

Yeah I knew about Tetryarch, although I think when COD was just a simple solid performing franchise selling close to 2 mill worldwide that was fine. But with sales looking to go well over 4 Million for COD 4 the game has changed, it's a blockbuster franchise now, probably won't outsell halo, but like all the great franchises this shouldn't be milked it should be nurtured. Let Tetryarch make a WWII spin-off and allow Infinity Ward to create a sequal worthy of COD4, otherwise a WWII reprisal could turn off new fans generated by COD4.

Because it is a better game, enough said.

We had two bags of grass, seventy-five pellets of mescaline, five sheets of high-powered blotter acid, a salt shaker half full of cocaine, a whole galaxy of multi-colored uppers, downers, screamers, laughers…Also a quart of tequila, a quart of rum, a case of beer, a pint of raw ether and two dozen amyls.  The only thing that really worried me was the ether.  There is nothing in the world more helpless and irresponsible and depraved than a man in the depths of an ether binge. –Raoul Duke

It is hard to shed anything but crocodile tears over White House speechwriter Patrick Buchanan's tragic analysis of the Nixon debacle. "It's like Sisyphus," he said. "We rolled the rock all the way up the mountain...and it rolled right back down on us...."  Neither Sisyphus nor the commander of the Light Brigade nor Pat Buchanan had the time or any real inclination to question what they were doing...a martyr, to the bitter end, to a "flawed" cause and a narrow, atavistic concept of conservative politics that has done more damage to itself and the country in less than six years than its liberal enemies could have done in two or three decades. -Hunter S. Thompson

wow i didnt think anything would pass halo3 so fast

You aren't forced to buy the maps. You can still play online without buying the maps.

I think Call of Duty 4 is severely undertracked on this site and the chart in this thread only makes me more sure of it. I think CoD4 is likely at 4.3-4.5 million sold on the 360 rather than the 3.21 this site has.

This is very possible. NPD has it as 3.04m in the US alone (up to Jan 5, 2008). Add about 1m from Others and you get around 4m. 4.5m may be a little high, though.
