That would put the 3DS at roughly 8.75 million next week, then. Meaning it used 652 days to reach 8.75 million in Japan.
For a comparison, the Wii reached 8.75 million week ending 15th November 2009, a whole 1018 days after its launch. Or after 56% more time had passed.
The DS reached 8.75 million week ending 11th June 2006, or 556 days after its launch. In other words, 14% faster than the 3DS. This is slightly misleading, though, as it had two full holidays, while the 3DS has only had one and (roughly) a half.
The PsP took even longer than the Wii - 1211 days - but is still ending with more than 50% more than the Wii sold.
There's no GBA or Ps2 data for some reason, but the original Gameboy passed 8.75 million on 4th April 1993, or after 1444 days.
Finally, the SNES made it the first week of June 1993, after 921 days.
As such, the 3DS is - of the machines we have data for - second to 8.75 million, only behind the DS.
