 we need better gun control

Guns don't kill people. People kill people.

People with guns kill people. All we are asking is for tests to make sure you are mentally stable to own a gun.

that is already a requirement. you must pass a background check.

the only gun control i am in support of (as are almost all gun rights activists) is background checks to ensure people people who cannot own guns legally, dont get to buy them (so felons, and people who have been determined mentally unstable by doctors) if are background checks arent working, we need to improve them.

but that is the only gun restriction i support. you go to the store the owner calls up the BAFTE gives them your info, the look you up. You arent a felon, no doctors have deemed you mentally insane (mental defficiency or what ever). good to go.

How about a class? how to use it? Store it? Learn about what is the most common deaths from guns, You can teach people how to handle there guns and what steps they should take. Thats all I would want. Oh yea also a assault weapon ban. No need for that. You don't need to kill groups of people or whatever your doing with the gun.

while i advocate, and strongly urge any and all gun owners to be well trained. and i always recomend novices to take classes i dont think that should be a requirement. and i have taken several classes, they werent all that necessary for me, as i was already a very competent gun owner, shooter. and this goes for many gun owners, they grew up around guns, they know how to use them. kind of unrelated but i assume you think voter ID is a pole tax, well for me mandantory gun classes are a poll tax of sorts.

as an aside, a gun training class is required to get a conceal carry license in all but 3 states.

i wish school tought basic safe gun handling to students (not necessarly shooting classes, but like for younger kids, if you see a gun, dont touch it, and immediately tell an adult, when the get older, never, never ever point a gun at somebody, also check to see if the gun is unloaded, even if you think and or have checked to ensure its unloaded always treat a gun as if it were load. only point a gun at a somethin you are willing to destroy. meaning pointing at a wall, whats beyond the wall are there people in the other room. i wish school would teach kids that stuff, not to fear guns, but to respect them.)

as for your want for an assualt weapons bans. i curious, what do you consider an assault weapon.

Also remember docter patient privacy is big deal, meaning before you get your gun you should have to give them all rights to look into you mental condition. The Movie theater shooting would have been avoided if this was possible. The kid had major issues and the doctor couldn't put that out because of doctor patient privacy, which I think is a good thing but if you want a gun. Well you have to hand all that over or you don't get a gun.

I suggest you look into the Colorado movie theater shooting. The kid was seeing doctors and councelors. How did this fly under the rader if your so sure are laws are fine. THats the point they are not and you know it.

i adressed this. as i said i agree he should have been able to own a gun. there needs to be a system in place that keeps people like him from getting while als balancing privacy.

Well If every one on the right agreed with you, I think most would be fine with that. Just better regulation.

people with guns kill people

WTF how come my post keep getting screwed up

people with lethal guns kill people who dont shoot first provided they have guns however those who dont have guns themselves are not just equiped with sufficient protection when shot.

Yay!!!

well not in this case, this guy had terrible gun control. fortunately he didnt kill more than 2. if he would have had competent gun control many more would have died.

to bad the was no armed law abiding citizen with great gun control, they could have prevented this

Ughh, If gun control was better, an idiot like that wouldn't own a gun in the first place not needing your "law abiding citizen"

Prevention is the key.

when has gun laws ever kept criminals from owning guns? because criminals follow laws, right?

and even if he somehow couldnt get his hands on a gun illegally, could he not have killed people with a sword, knife, bat, poisin, ninja stars, etc. he "only" killed 2 people, someone could easily kill more people with nothing other than their fists.

and you do know that according to the FBI, bats are the most used weapon in violent crimes, knives are second, gun dont rank in the top 5.

guns are like a virtual penis extensio that gives the user a sense of power.

It is easier to shoot someone from a distance then get up and close with a weapon and stab them, punch them etc.. i.e. literally getting blood on your hands.

The U.S gun laws are a joke.... You're all to caught up in your amendments and thinking that laws and times never evolve. The gun amendment was fine back when it was written, the world is a much different place now. Something people need to realize.

Yeah, people don't have the need to protect themselves anymore.

Sarcasm? I never said anything of the sort. They just need to tighten the gun restrictions. In Australia you need an actual reason to even own a firearm, then you go through psych tests and everything. The amount of shootings over there should be obvious evidence enough that something needs to change.

some times i want to move to austrila but then i think about games prices and the ratings board

Our ratings board supports R 18+ now.

Game prices have gone down significantly since last gen.

i.e last gen hd games where $120, how they launc hfor like $69-$89. Most peopel import games anyway from places liek ozgameshop (which ships EUR versions for cheaper)

We also make more money so prices are relative to wage.

you realize murders, violents crimes, etc, are decreasing every year, and have reached like 50 year lows, all while gun ownership is at an all time high?

gun sales are skyrocketing, especially sales of what you would call  "assault rifles". gun sales reached an all time high in a year, this year (2012), gun sales this november, sset all time high. so many sales occured on black friday, that the BAFTE background check system crached, with how many calls we being place by FFLs.

it seems your theory is incorrect

lo0 gun sales went up because half of americans are crazy nuts who are preparing for doomsday events (one is nearly upon us 20/12/2012). I seen the shows on national geographic where they store food, have bunkers, do routine target shooting.

i think most people on the right do. they want better enforcement of existed laws, not more laws, and for the government not to encourge straw purchases.

its just a grey area, felons shouldnt own guns. thats cut and dry. they actively chose to commit a crime.

even most on the right agree mentally incompetent people shouldnt have guns, theres already existing laws for that. but the grey area comes in and the disagreement is, who decides who is mentally deficient, what is they critia for when they reach a mental state of when they cant own a gun, how do you relay that info to the bafte while protecting privacy. it gets a little complicated.

i think most of the guns sales have been spuured by obama getting reelected, and out of fear that the will implement the "assault weapons ban" and other gun control measures. he has a long history of suppporting all kinds of gun control, and people fear his second term will "give him more flexibility" when it comes to gun control. so called "assault weapon" sales such as AR-15 have seen the greatest increases. then there are the few crazies that think the end of the world is coming

But if he changes the laws, everyone will need to give the guns back. Assuming America keeps a register of who owns what automatics and their serial numbers.

Same hting happened in Aus after Martyn Bryant massacre. Gun laws got tougher, automatic weapons got banned and people had to turn them in so they could get destroyed.

So buying them now is pointless, unless people are planning to start a civil war with them if gun law changes occur?

the assault weapons ban does not cover automatic guns. never did. automatic guns are already banned anyway. they have been since 1986.

the "assault weapons ban" banned scary looking gun. literally thats all it did. AR-15's are nothing more than extremely underpowed hunting rifles. its like if you were to put i prius engine in a corvette. sure it may look fast and powerfull, but its nothing. so automatics are banned.

"scarry" looking guns may be banned soon, and usually the ban, ban the scary looking guns after the date of the ban, and required registration of pre-ban guns.
