Maybe if you really like Mario (for the most part). Otherwise there's no way you could look at games like Monster Hunter 3G/4, Bravely Default, Shin Megami Tensei IV, RE Revelations, Soul Hackers, DQ VII, Kingdom Hearts 3D, Taled of the Abyss, Devil Survivor Overclocked, etc. and say the only games worth getting are Nintendo. If you don't know the lineup that's OK but this is very ignorant otherwise. It's like saying people only buy Vitas to play Sony games like Uncharted and Gravity Rush because they're some of the most popular games on the system.

The Nintendo games is the main defining factor in determining PSV vs 3DS, otherwise do you want me to go on metacritic and here and look up all the top games and see whether the OP likes those precise games

Not really. Nintendo games are a defining reason to get a 3DS over the Vita but not the only reason. Any of those games I listed are worthwhile reasons to get a 3DS over the Vita. I mean why do you think the 3DS is exploding while the Vita is not in Japan? And I'm ignoring the TC's preferences in this case btw.

I was just simplifying the arguement, but you should surely agree that the Nintendo games are the most important facctor for most people getting a 3DS


Yes I know (to both points). But that doesn't really matter. Even if Nintendo games are one of - if not the most important - factor that doesn't mean you can just say "only get a 3DS if you like Nintendo games, otherwise get a Vita" when there are many third party games worth buying. We just need to see more localized.

I am working on the assumption that the Vita is not going to die and that Sony aren't being entirely incompetent and so assuming that going forward, the Vita has more and more 3rd party titles. My point is that they both have decent third party games worth playing, not just the 3DS and as ever, it is the 1st party games that make the difference

If your a nintendo fan get a vita!!! If you like only hardcore no mario games get a 3ds.......

jk.. but seriously for people wanting a 3ds for hardcore or competition online get RE revelations, KIU, MK7... If you want vita buy the AC bundle!!! Which one is better... For your money 3ds hands down but get both since they have totally different experiences!!!

OT: It depends on your age and interests. If you like Pokemon, mario..etc then get a 3DS.

I'm not picking on VGKing -- just using his post as a springboard -- and I apologize for being off-topic, but what is with this weird dichotomy of "Eastern" versus "Western" games? If a game is great, it's great.


I guess the philosophy is different, but sometimes there's not really a big difference.

So if you like Shooters, get a Vita? There are no WRPG's on the handhelds yet, and I think western gamers appreciate Super Mario as much as they do Uncharted.

By cheap Vita games vs. expensive 3DS games, what specifically are you referring to?  Because new games on both systems run from between $19.99 - $39.99 (Black Ops Declassified - $49.99 currently on PS Vita.  Pro Evolution Soccer 2013 - $49.99 on 3DS although not yet released)  And, if you're just talking about downloads, the 3DS e-shop has loads of cheap downloads as well.
