Forums - Gaming Discussion - Why does it seem like the vita is getting more games than the 3ds?

Because Nintendo 1st party games are already choking 3rd parties' business on 3DS. Look at Professor Layton vs. Ace Attorney...

Do your research better Ryan. Or do some research.

Every single company got the same attitude which is money making. So it sounds fair to me.

Getting an Australia Visa will help to continue my studies.

Keep in mind we don't know much about 3DS releases past Q1.

I'm a little confused about the OP.

Vita has about 50.
3DS has about 150.

Are we talking announced games for 2013?

lol the sad part is before I read your post I assumed 3DS had like maybe 40 games. Well that is what it appears to be like in Australia at least everytime I look at the shelves.

Well, keep in mind that's not 150 must-play games :) But there's no denying that 3DS has more games; it's been out longer so it should have more. If we're talking quality over quantity, then I don't really have an answer. I've only played a few 3DS games and no Vita games yet.

In terms of 2013, there are a few sexy titles for both:

For Vita:
Dragon's Crown
Killzone Mercenary (I'm especially excited for this one)
Soul Sacrifice
Dead or Alive 5 Plus
Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 Plus
Sly Cooper: Thieves in Time

For 3DS:
Animal Crossing
Fire Emblem (new footage from Nintendo Direct looks awesome)
Luigi's Mansion
Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate
Castlevania: Lords of Shadow - Mirror of Fate
Brain Age

So it's looking good for both!

There is a game DB here. Go check it out. Then you have numbers, not "feelings" or "impressions" anymore.

Maybe it's because they celebrate every single obscure niche game even if it hasn't any chance of releasing outside of japan. I don't care for games like Senran Kagura on either platform but it is very funny how the shinovi game is treated as the second coming of our big busted lord jesus christ around here.

Honestly man, when I first saw this post I thought it was hilarious and then got increasingly more worried as people kept replying with "this".  I mean, are you genuinely being serious?  If not, I apologise for this rant in advance.

It's alright for VicViper to get excited about every single Japanese 3DS game, then, but suddenly posting news of Japanese Vita announcements in the official thread for Vita suddenly makes it "celebrating every single obscure niche game" as if it's the "second coming".

Just take the offensive that you're on down a notch.  I mean heck, I read Siliconera and the Vita thread.  Put two and two together to make 4, not 5, and you'lll realise they're just responding to this news.  Feel free to go into the Vita thread and see if you can find people getting excited about playing Senran Kagura.  I think you'd struggle.  Ironically, there are a few people in the thread who have expressed an interest in importing various titles because they can actually do that since the console isn't region locked.  Giving each Japanese announcement slightly more traction than an obscure 3DS announcement.

Look at it logically.  Vita is generally regarded as having no games.  Vita selling poorly in Japan.  Vita gets a shit load of announcements for Q1 in Japan.  People in the Vita thread are generally owners and fans of the console.  Do you think they're perhaps more hopeful about these games helping Vita gain traction in Japan so a few bigger names come to the console that have more chance of being localised in the future?  Perhaps they're just looking forward to the console getting some sort of sales spike in Japan next year (this is a sales site after all)?  And there are inevitably a few posters in that thread who are fans of Japanese games and bought a region-free handheld so should be free to celebrate these announcements if they wish.

Or not, since it seems to bother quite a lot of people.

The games on the Vita don't appeal as much to handheld owners. Again it's cool to have Uncharted and Assassins, but many people (including me) don't want PS3 games on the Vita, I want a different experience, and that's the whole point tbh. 3DS has a handheld feel to it, even though they made some big mistakes with it imo, but some of the games have been fantastic (especially SM3D Land)

And to answer the OP's question: there's probably something in my tl;dr post above. Mostly about Vita having a large amount of announcements for Q1 in Japan next year and these seem more readily readable on these forums since there has been a lot of coverage on Siliconera recently.

For lack of a better word, it is your 'imagination' ...

With going to multiple sites, there are consistently more games in the upcomming 3DS list than there is in the PS-Vita list. What you're (probably) being influenced by is that the 3DS has more new IPs and original games and the PS-Vita's list is made up of a lot of ports and/or cheap cash-ins on known franchises.
