Forums - Nintendo - My Wii Repair Experience

That's weird you lost all your save data. I just got back my Wii and so far the only things I've lost are the channels.

Looking over the post Wii repair info all they have is a little check box that says they successfully fixed what ever the problem with it was. From what it sounded like we had similar problems, but it seems like you got hosed.

Anyway, congrats on getting your Wii back.

A thought just popped in my head. Couldn't you have saved the Miis to your Wiimote, and then put them back on your new console when it came?

I got some of my friends' Miis back that way.  I wanted to recreate my own so that I can edit them if I feel like it.

My wii does some noises while loading, similar to floppy disks loading noises. Is this normal ?

I've also encountered about 5 "please eject the disk and turn off the console" errors in the first week I've got the console, but none after (I have it for 6 weeks - so 5 weeks with no error).

Please someone answer to this. I'm starting to get worried.

It's one of the more common Wii hardware problems...disc reading errors.  Your Wii should not make those noises...it's trying to read the disc and failing I'm guessing...if it completely fails it gives you that error message...but most times the game will continue.

Your loading for certain games can be really long because of that beeping, right?  That shouldn't happen, and you can get it fixed under Nintendo's warrantee.  It happened to me, mainly with launch titles, especially Ubisoft titles like Rayman Raving Rabbids or Red Steel...but it has ocassionally given me errors for other games as well.

The Wii is having more problems than a typical Nintendo system...but their customer service and warrantee is great, so no worries.

LEFT4DEAD411.COM
Bet with disolitude: Left4Dead will have a higher Metacritic rating than Project Origin, 3 months after the second game's release.  (hasn't been 3 months but it looks like I won :-p )

Nintendo always made trustworthy hardware, I never had a problem with one of their consoles. :)

100% Coritiba Foot Ball Club!

Yeah... I've never had a problem with Nintendo's products

My mate had a faulty disc drive on his PS3, which may be rare though.

I've had a Wii repair (noisy DVD drive) and two DS repairs (randomly shutting off and broken "R" button), and each time my turnaround time between when I sent the system off and got it back was 7-10 days. And they didn't charge me for an out-of-warranty DS repair, either.

Yeah, I just started having this problem with smg and ssbb (both new and always stored in case) :(  I dunno what causes it, but when I click Start from the disc channel, it does a whirrrrrrrr-click, whirrrrrr-click, whirrrrrr-click and then displays that error.  It happens every now and then, sometimes 3-4 tries in a row.  I tried loading the disc in when the console is laying flat (horizontal).  So far, 2 out of 2 tries worked... although I really am starting to suspect that the drives have some kind of issue.

I had a similar problem with MP3, about a lot of red pixels showing up and so on, I simply washed the disk, and it was fine. With SMG, the game stopped playing, so I washed that too, and they were fine. People should check that (not that you should have) before they send it in. I believe that is a very common reason to think it is broken.

That is VGChartz LONGEST review. And it's NOT Cute Kitten DS

^ Washed as in cleaned right? Not washed with water right???

The only problem i have ever had with my Wii was RRR crashing on me but after trying in a friends Wii i discovered it was the disk so that got traded in to EBgames. Also just today My Luigis mansion had some wierd bugs where parts of the music were missing and many sound effects had gone, Luigi would only shout "Mario" around 1/4 times i pressed the A button, No walking sound effects or banging on wall sound effects, But i think this was just some wierd bug i discovered by accident rather than anything to do with the Wii.
